Presumably they have not yet decided on whether or not he is to be re-signed.

Interesting that Alex Smith (left back?) has been assigned a number despite not, as I remember, figuring  pre-season.

With several u-21s involved this is, at present, virtually a 22 man squad (u-21s don't count towards squad total). I may hav got this wrong, but I think the squad looks like this as far as PL quotas are concerned. Bold = 'Home Grown'  (Brackets)= u21

played the back end of last season at centre mid and was the DS captain for the majority of games so would have been a tad harsh maybe to drop him out of a number. He'll be nowhere near the first team though.
