Let's not kid ourselves.  That performance today was typical of Fulham away from home under Roy.

Walker was atrocious against San Marino.  Not average, absolutely awful.  It'd have been a travesty had he started again, bearing in mind how Johnson performed during the Euros.

Liverpool would be Argentina. Pretty good in the 70s and 80s, yet are somewhat of a joke in recent years due to poor management and whilst having a lot to play with, fail to deliver. They also idolise a complete buffoon.

England would be Aston Villa. A very long time ago they were considered to be the best, yet slipped down into mid-table dross with the occasional flirt of optimism that usually ends in vain. The football now is rather dull and everyone laughs when they don't win.

Arsenal OR Tottenham?

Liverpool are too successful to be England

Based on the first half performance I would say Fulham. It reminded me a lot of our first half at Southampton, but fortunately we were far better in the second half than England were.

Had Carrick and Rooney been playing like that for us they would have got even more stick than Baird and Ruiz did!   fp.gif

It's funny that you ask this, because yesterday I was watching some international matches and I got to thinking if Fulham were an international side in FIFA which would we be?  Couldn't really decide, though.
It's a fine line between clever and . . . stupid.  David St. Hubbins

Forest. Had success years ago, but have done bugger all and not been a "top tier" side ever since.

Rooney has made a name for himself which is totally unjustified. He is at best a moderate player who scores a few goals (but then so do most strikers). His passing ability is dire except to pass to the opposing side. It's time he wasn't automatically selected until he regains his skill of the past. Too much 'celebrity' status perhaps?

Until more people in a position to change things adopt these view, England will be a second rate football team.... :dft012:
Just like Utd, in Europe.....lol

Fulham away. Liverpool at home .

Cannot really just blame the managers if you look at the team sheet you would not put them above mid table in the Premier League .

United have got to a handful of European finals in the last 5 years, England would kill for that record!

But yeah, Rooney has been thoroughly unimpressive for a while.  His stand out performances stand out so much because they're so infrequent.  IMO, and as a United fan, I think the role he has been asked to do has made him a worse player.  He was way better or at least more exciting when he was a youngster, it's like he's had all flair and skill driven out of him so that he can run around even more.
