Holden is talented but I don't see why Bolton would sell low on him right when he's finally getting back to match action after they've stuck with him for this long.

FulhamSince1995

The only thing I could find on that lad Malanda was this video, scores a decent header. Doesn't really determine much but shows signs of being good in the air and that's something we could improve on.

So, Stockdale has gone to Hull on loan, does this mean Stekelenburg is finally going to sign?

Don't get me wrong. I'd love for us to have either Butland or Stekelenburg, but why would either come? Both are leaving their clubs for basically the same reason ..... first team football. Butland wants a higher level and Stekelenburg is tired of sitting the bench already. This is something we apparently can't give either of them until next season....unless we are moving MS in this window. I find that to be doubtful.

What makes you say that? I don't see why we can't drop Schwarzer.

I've not seen anything that would lead me to believe that we would drop him. Even when he's played poorly we've not shown a willingness to do so when Stockdale was around. Didn't even give Stockdale the cup games that he was around for.

Maybe we would drop him. I can't say that I know either way. We just don't seem inclined to when he's healthy.

Was just a thought. You all are probably correct in the he likely wouldn't leave, feeling loyalty for the support they've shown him, and they likely wouldn't want to part with their investment.

If the numbers were right though... I was just pointing out that he's someone who ticks all the boxes for players we should be looking for. His value is low because he's a bit risky at the moment. He's more than proven he's good enough at this level. He's a good character for the lockerroom.

Just saying that it'd be worth the asking to see if he were available. If he shows himself to be healthy, he'll have admirers in the PL this summer w/o a doubt.

Because Jol doesn't rate Stockdale perhaps. Stekelenburg is unquestionably the better keeper. Butland I've not seen much of so I couldn't comment. I think Jol will be well aware that Schwarzer is in his final season and that he's in decline.

Perhaps he doesn't rate Stockdale. Perhaps he does. I don't know. None of us does really. Even if Jol says something about the situation in public, we still do not know b/c he's so full of it when speaking about such things. Like I said, I've not seen any indication that he'd drop MS based upon form.

I hope that we get one of the two keepers. Would be nice to have a long term starter in that position sewn up before summer. It would give me one less position to stress out over until Jol has to sign David Seaman on a free on the last day of the window.

Polish sports TV presenter and all around babe Agata Lee has tweeted that we have all but signed Stek, for what its worth

are we happy about this.  a good goalkeeper... better than schwarzer no?

supersimmo123

Skekelenburg is a class GK, Man U wanted him when they went for De Gea but was more expensive...

Its a great signing if it happens. Schwarz on the way out and Stockdale is decent but he's not as good as Stek

if we do indeed get Stekelenburg...  Jol can sure bring in some high profile players.  Berbatov and Stek are really good signings.  One good thing he brings to the table for Fulham.

Not happy no...delighted, ecstatic!

Provided this does actually happen of course. I'll be happy when I see him playing for us.

lets not get ahead of ourselves, he hasnt signed yet. Even if he does (i agree, would be a top top signing), GK couldve easily waited til the summer, understandable Jol decided to move on stek now seen as hes available but CM is still a position we need players in. Along with a real poacher if Berbatov is adamant hes not going to shoot.

Huddlestone/M'vila/Bent, 2 of those and Stekelenburg and this wouldve been an outstanding window, even 1 of those (if its a mid) will be an extremely good window in my opinion.  078.gif

I'd rather have the two guys that lobbed Seaman from 45 yards. :dead horse:

Arguably better, but definitely ten years younger.

Arguably? Come on now - this is Stekelenburg we're talking about.

Sorry, what I wrote was poorly worded.  I just meant to say that, whether you think he's better or not, he's definitely a lot younger.  I happen to also think he's better, you don't get 50+ caps for Holland by accident.
