Yes decent is what we have but not in sylvestres role. He's more of a playmaker, and we don't have any of them

Hopefully your right Paul, but I Worry if we are only able to attract decent type players. When you have a player with the skills of Petrie and beer atop you need to supply them and sometimes decent is not what they need.

I give up on all this,  whoever we sign ....if anyone will be of average quality nothing special and most people would of never heard if them and would struggle to get into the Wigan reserves.

I watched Sylvestre both time against us he is a good player, I do agree we should be looking to do better, seems like paper talk, lazy journo as we played them last week

totally agree. I do think Sylvestre is an improvement on current mids but that is saying nothing at all. Wouldve liked to have seen us go for M'Vila or even more so, Moussa Sissoko whos a lot cheaper :scarf:

I'd take a punt on Chris Robshaw from Harlequins, a natural leader & motivator. Play him at CB & send him forward for set pieces.

What we NEED is someone who can contribute AND stay off the trainer's table. Which means we need to graft Hugo's legs onto Diarra.
Its not that I could and others couldn't.
Its that I did and others didn't.

Another Fullback linked. This time it is Bulthuis from FC Utrecht although he does say at the end he wants to stay loyal to Utrecht so probably a non-starter. Anyway here's the link:

Heres the SSN story on Sylvestre

Transfer news: Fulham and Crystal Palace want Blackpool's Ludovic Sylvestre
By Pete O'Rourke

Sky Sports understands Fulham are eyeing a move for Blackpool midfielder Ludovic Sylvestre.

Craven Cottage boss Martin Jol is keen to bolster his midfield options and Sylvestre has emerged on his radar.

Sylvestre impressed Jol during Fulham's FA Cup clashes with Blackpool, with the midfielder scoring in last week's replay at Bloomfield Road.

Championship promotion hopefuls Crystal Palace are also keen on Sylvestre.

Palace boss Ian Holloway is a big fan of Slyvestre, having signed him while he was in charge of Blackpool, and he would love to be reunited with the player at Selhurst Park to boost his side's promotion bid.

Sylvestre is in the final six months of his contract at Blackpool and his suitors know they could land the former Barcelona man for a cut-price fee

My reservation would be that he turns 29 in february so he's not exactly on the younger side and despite joining Blackpool when they were promoted he only played 8 times that year.

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, CAN WE SIGN A BLOODY MIDFIELDER?!

Sneijder to Galatasaray is official
More money, Champions League football and a team tailor made for his play style. I guess everything has turned out very well for Mr Sneijder.

this needs to happen and will happen.  i hope it is someone better than ludovic syvelstre.  good squad player but not good enough.  Diarra fit would help.

Not bad at all. I think Inter must be most relieved though as they've saved themselves around 30m euros in wages by offloading him.

I certainly hope so. Its going to be really interesting to see who arrives given that the press links, if any stock can be put on them, have been rather varied.

Its just a shame where we've got to the point where we need a player that can be immediately productive but are also looking to lower the squad age. Tough to fulfil both criteria in January

I know he is rated at blackpool but it would be worrying that he would be our cm jan purchase based on the fact we saw him play last week. He's cheap as he's only got six months left

Tough to explain why we're waiting the entire window to sign someone when we've had four months to find him and negotiate. Still will need time to integrate into the team.

Hopefully Diarra is fit by the end of the month. Would be a huge boost.

And they're finally rid of his annoying statements.

"Ooh, I wouldn't mind the Premier League."
"I want more money..."
"I'm staying at Inter for my family. I don't care about money any more."
"I want more money..."

Accurate word for word quotes, as you can tell.
