As of 2015 it looks like the winners of the Europa League will gain entry to the following seasons Champions League

Maybe otherteams will take it as seriously as we did...

If it they changed it so the losers of the champions league were excluded then this is a good idea

Don't like this. I've always felt that if you win something (regardless of sport), you should have to defend it. Unless you retire due to age or something like that

I agree and disagree reither.... always nice to have the chance to defend your title, but I feel with this rule coming into place it would really add some much needed loss to the competition... teams would take it seriously and it would help teams financially.... Teams who fsll out of tue champs league should be excluded though

Call me old fashioned, but...

The Europa League should not have Champions League failures from the group stages being dumped in to it as some form of consolation.

And the Champions League should (at most) only have Champions and runners-up in it.

Yes...tend to agree...which is why I qualified my statement with "at most"...

Cup winners is a fair shout, as that still opens the door to those clubs that don't habitually win their domestic league. And from an FA Cup perspective, it would give it the status that it used to have.

It was much better in the good old days when we had the European Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup. You had to win something to enter the competitions.
