If we sign Bakary Sako...

Will it spell the end of Kaca's Fulham career? Surely since Sako is yet another winger, we will either see Kaca or Frei leaving. There is too much competition on the wings and since Spurs are already supposedly sniffing around him, is that it?
Youngest ever member. Just saying.

Arthur

Not necessarily.

Jol may try using Sako in a more central midfield role - similar to Diame - or as a striker - in the mould of Benteke.

sako is also tall, fast and strong, he could be a good left back

Baider

We've needed another winger all season

Now we get one and everyone automatically thinks Kacaniklic is off :S

Sorry, what? He's never played there in his life and defensive contribution is one of his few weaknesses. Why on earth would we sign someone known for being a goal-scoring wide midfielder, only to move them to fullback?

If Wikipedia is right, he only looks tall - in fact he's 5ft 11in (Berba is 6ft 2 1⁄2 in and Ruiz is 6ft 2in)

We have left-footed wide players in Kaca, Duff and Mesca, why would we need another one?

Duff is not going to start every game on the left. Kaca and Mesca are youth players.

Zu-Meister

next season, dejagah is definite started on the right. on the left we will have kacaniklic and sako(if he signs)fighting out for the spot, with sako also able to cover right wing.

MJG

We have Duff, kaca, frei, dejagah, richardson, mesca even Ruiz who can all play wide. We do not need another winger.

Zu-Meister

duff too old, will be third/fourth choice winger.
kaca could be a starter.
frei bench.
dejagah our number 1 winger.
richardson too many injuries unreliable. will be more of a left back probably.
mesca completely inexperienced.
ruiz too slow to play wide.

Big Martin Jol

I did wonder if there was a possibility of Sako being used either in central midfield or as a striker. We're light in both positions but relagively heavy on wingers, so it would make sense to some extent. Anyone know if he's had any extensive experience or success playing a more central role?

duff may he too old but Jol gave him new contract so will be in match day squad.
Kaca should be first chouce left and competing with Frei.
I agree richardson was a sick mote and im no fan but Jol does use him there.
Mesca has to make a breakthrough at some stage. Another player in front him just yet again delays a youngsters chance.
I only included Ruiz as an option I dont like him there.
In the end you have dejagah and duff on right. Frei and Kaca on left. Thats enough to be getting on with.

We start training next week with only 2 senior central midfielders in the squad. We dont need a winger.

Zu-Meister

i agree CM is the main issue. also id rather sell both riise and richardson to get a new left back in. if anyone would have them.
but i think its a good idea to have another senior winger in. or maybe frei is indeed off.
remember mesca is a sick note also. supremely talented and pacey. but with dodgy knees.

You are of course right but remember last season we were struggling to find anyone good enough to hold that wide left spot. All the players you mention were tried plus Rodders and Ruiz but none were a real success . Duff did well but these days is more at home on the right and Kaca had a couple of good matches late on.
A really good left winger who could command a regular place would be a good signing.

I reckon he might be that rarity among modern professional footballers, a bloke who is happy to use both the feet he is paid for.

Don't forget that Charlie Banya is still in the winger equation, too.

Might we be intending to use Sako down the middle (provided he arrives at all)?

down the middle as in CM? doubt it. honestly, if we are not going full pelt for a couple of class CM's, i dont know what our board are being paid for. banya is a skillfull fella, but so so light weight. maybe in a couple of years time after he bulks up a bit.

I blame jol for a lot of the issues on the left. Riise has faults but almost evey week Jol changing the player in front of him. He even admited he kept dropping Kaca and that may have been a mistake.
Kaca came back from loan and at 22/23 we need to show faith in both him and Frei. Frei had injurus and that stupid loan to cardiff and his season never took off.
I just think with the limited budget we have the priorities are elsewhere and they need addressing first or otherwise we are going to be scraping around come August 31 for cm's with no money.
