I'm sure you've been inundated with messages of thanks from FFC fans, but
here's mine anyway.

As a Fulham fan of over 30 years, your leadership has brought me more joy
than I could ever expect being a Fulham fan. You transformed and improved
the club but, equally importantly, maintaind the spirit and traditions of
the club.

I thank you for the effort and, lets not beat about the bush, money you
have put into this very important institution.

I'm not sure for your motives in selling but am assuming you're heading for
a well deserved retirement. I wish you well and hope you have a happy and
healthy time with your family and friends.

Regards,

Vince Shanley

Dear Mr Shanley,

Mr Al Fayed has asked me to thank you for your email and to reply on his behalf.

Mr Al Fayed has felt it an honour and a pleasure to be chairman of Fulham FC for 16 amazing years. From the moment he first stepped onto the grounds of Craven Cottage, he knew he wanted to help the Club achieve the premier league status it so rightly deserved.

The combination of hard work, passion and a belief in god is Mr Al Fayed's formula for reaching his goals; and he is proud that this ethic is one that flows throughout the Club - from the pitch to the stands.

Mr Al Fayed believes that Fulham fans are the greatest fans in the world; he is grateful to you for the support you have given him over the years, however he now feels that it is the right time for him to pass on the Club on so that he can spend more time with his children and grandchildren.

He knows he has found the right man to be the guardian of Fulham's long history and tradition of playing the game the right way, and is confident great times lie ahead for Fulham FC with this new custodian.

May I thank you, once again, for taking the time to write, and extend to you Mr Al Fayed’s respects and very best wishes.

Come on you Whites! Yes we Khan!

Yours sincerely

Kate Lovell

I got the exact same response.

It only makes sense that one general response was created as a reply.

Would you want to reply personally to 500 letters? That would take the better part of a month!

Don't worry about the reply

Well done to all of you who took the time and trouble to write a letter of appreciation to a quite simply wonderful chairman.
Proper proper fans, thank you.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

Can't see why a standardized honest email is a problem. You GOT a response. Wonder how many clubs would do that.

Micky Adams also replied when he left, probably a standard letter but personally signed.

I also got the same response. Am I bothered that it wasn't personally handcrafted? No.

To be honest I didn't send the email to him looking for a response. The point was for me to express my thanks to him.

Would of been nice if the response e-mail was actually written by Mo himself though and not on his behalf.

TBH I was expecting some form of generic reply. But hey, as generic replies go, it's a bloody good one !! As mentioned already, I just wanted MAF to know he was appreciated and, to an extent, loved by the vast majority of FFC fans. Good luck to him in his retirement, and it's onwards and upwards from here..  :54:
