Yes some difficult decsisons

1) Goal
Stockdale is an excellent shot stopper
Decent distributor
But does not dominate the box
It is partly his fault that there have been so many shots / headers against fulham .

I hope Steks can be an upgrade .

2) CB . Hangeland off form and we all need convincing his and Amore can be a good pairing .
On form Senderos should start !

3) CM . 2 of Boeteng , Sidwell and Parker ?  I would like to se Boeteng start . Maybe with the more attacking Sidwell is Parker not 100%

4) Front 4 . Only Kasami should be a shoe in .
I would like to see a fully fit Dejegah - but only if fully fit .
And Ruiz behind Bent .
Yes no Berba - we need to confront the Berba issue .
See the impact he makes off the bench

So my team is

                             Steks
           Riether Amore Senderos Richardson
               Parker ( if 100% fit ) Boateng
Dejagah  ( if 100% fit )        Ruiz             Kasami
                                       Bent

But we all know Berba is not going to be dropped so ............  079.gif

I'm with Dean as well.  Plus, teammates get used to a goal keeper's style and situational instincts.  They plan and react accordingly.  Changing keepers has an effect on the field players that people tend to overlook.  Plus, gosh darn it, I like Stockdale as a keeper.  I only wish he had played basketball at some point, so his set piece reactions were more emphatic and he commanded the air waves with more authority.  But he has intangibles I really like.  Determination, resolve, a sense of calm and authority.  He's no drama queen.  He has size and enough girth to take on bodies banging about.  He has a stronger constitution than Stekelenburg.  He delivers the ball better than Mark ever did.  He communicates with his backs and doesn't just boom it away to the other side.   He can make himself big on one on ones.  Good reflexes.
IMO This is the area where he is weakest. He doesn't instruct the defence or have a go when left exposed. He just lets it go and gets on with it. Great attitude in life but not in sport! He needs to be in command in the area even above Brede - It's his goal to own.

I'd like to see Ruiz play behind Bent, but Berbatov no doubt will
I agree , Berba on the Bench, but Jol will never do this.

Why should Stockdale be dropped?

Because he has not exactly installed the team with confidence during his run in the side :028:

Sorry our position in the league says no sentiment. Play your strongest 11 that includes Stekelenburg

Good news for us on the injury front,  Stekelenburg is back, Hangeland , Parker & Berbatov return
Dejegah available for selection
Only one a doubt is Taarabt who is not 100% yet.
Some tough decisions for Jol Monday as some good players won't even make the bench.

For me the team should be

                             Stelelenburg
Riether Hangeland Amorebieta Richardson
                             Parker Boateng
Dejagah                     Berbatov             Kasami
                                       Bent

Subs- Stockdale , Senderos , Sidwell , Kacaniklic , Taarabt , Ruiz , Rodallega

For me, Hangeland and Amorebieta can't be played together. They haven't been good. For me, they are competing for the same position to be partnered with Senderos.

Bassey the warrior

I think Stockdale has done fairly well. He has his weaknesses: doesn't organize his defence, doesn't command his area enough (though he's improved on this). But his positioning, shot stopping, kicking and catching is quite good. He also parries shots less than Schwarzer did. For me he's been one of our most consistent players.

Bassey the warrior

And yes Stockers should keep his place. Stek can play in the cups and earn his place.

Brown@FFC

Stekelenburg is one of the best keepers we have ever had, probably only behind van der Sar and Schwarzer. Stockdale isn't close to his level, and the best GK performance of the season so far, has been Steks 60 min against Sunderland. He was superb.

Why should Stockdale be dropped?

Because he conceded goals that Steks could have saved. We probably lost points because of Steks' injury...

Going to this, been looking forward to it for ages.

Personally Stek has to start. Better command of his area, better distributor and arguably better at shot stopping.

No Berba, would quite like to see Ruiz behind Bent with Kasami in the middle with Boateng and Kaca and Dejagah on the wings.

Rudolph

Senderos and Amorebieta at centre back for me.

I agree Denver he is a better goalie, But I think on this occasion dropping Stockdale would be a terrible move for two reason's.

Firstly Stockdale has been treated terribly by the club, but has always been loyal and done a job when asked upon - he is performing well this season and deserves his chance, but the most important reason is it will give him confidence, just think if we throw back our goalkeeper (who's shoulders appear to be made of chocolate) straight back into the team, and he gets injured again.... How damaging will that be for our young keeper to come in again? I say keep Stek on the bench even if it is for one game, just to show that we do have faith in his abillity
I dont get why has he been treated terribly by the club, the fact is he has done ok but he really is not good enough, but that is just my opinion, every single manager since Stockdale has been here have not thought him to be the best option.

Me too. Brede needs to earn his place as he's been poor.

Hanfeland's inability or unwillingness to attack the ball from our corners has been far more detrimental to out defending corners.

I would not like to see Stek walk back into the team.

I think Berbatov is very much part of the problem, with his attitude and lack of effort this season,  and would have liked Ruiz behind Bent.

Hangeland has been poor this sesson and deserves to be dropped.

I am a firm believer of if it ain't broke don't try and fix it. The winning team that finished against Stoke should start (even Parker on the bench) - This is not Jol's mentallity and he plays his favourites despite thier poor form / attitude, so it will be Jackys team with Ruiz for dejagah and Sidwell Boateng.... Would love him to throw a surprise though

Totally agree Deano
Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

Forever Fulham

With respect, I don't agree that Stockdale doesn't command his area or organize the defenders.  He's not a constant screamer, I'll grant you that.  But it appears he is communicating to them.  One can't be sure if defensive lapses are being caused by recent musical chairs of field partnerings, or poor run of form by certain defenders, or what.  It's easy to simply load it on Stockdale's back and claim he doesn't command his space.  But if Stekelenburg can improve our fortunes, I'm all for the change.

The right side should be Senderos' until someone can outplay him there. Neither Brede nor Amorebieta is two-footed enough to outplay him IMO. We need to buy competition for him there since Hughes seems to be a "break only in case of emergency" option at this point.

Also, I believe that Brede's back issues must be worse than we're being told because he hasn't been able to jump at all this season. Personally I don't get the management's/physio's logic. He's definitely not been better than his teammates so far this season so he might as well be healing while our other options are working.

Stekelenburg's supposed superiority over Stockdale, between the sticks, is supposition so far.
