I understand we have been in worse positions, and can people stop with the personal attacks - I can guarantee none to few of you travelled to accrington away a few years ago or were even at the game a last night so shame on you for calling me a bad supporter. I was mainly throwing a theoretical out there
, you only have to look at Teams like Leeds and Charlton etc. to know we are not going to have an easy time getting back and I fear the worst - my opinion. I will be attending next year and I will see new stadiums and teams I haven't seen us play before, I just think it is a crying shame with that being the easiest cup run we have had in a while and especially with the planning permission on the riverside that will now go to waste. With regards to me being immature and only seeing the good times I'm afraid my age/era makes that the case, this is a new low for me and was hoping to get some advice on how to deal with it a apposed to a tirade of abuse - thought we were better than that oh well

People were merely commenting on how unnecessarily hysterical you were getting. It's only relegation. You think we're the first team to ever be relegated with a bunch of players who seem like they don't care? Imagine being a Stockport County fan. They were still in League 1 in 2010. Now they're in the conference north after years of horrendous mismanagement and being put in administration. Look at what happened to Wimbledon, Portsmouth, Rangers. Puts it into perspective that you're calling a club with no debt being relegated from the Premier League "the death of Fulham FC".

Well I must admit I'll be glad when we know for certain mathematically that we are relegated. I will then go back to enjoying games and going to matches again in a positive manner. Even if we know before the end of this season in the Prem, I will go back to watching the remaining games in a relaxed manner.

Will people stop saying 'It is ONLY relegation'. While the death of Fulham may be an angry over the top spew of anger. One I completely understand.  It is one that I prefer after last nights and the last few seasons performance.

So big deal some of us have been with the club when they were bottom of the league. Just means we are older. This relegation and the way the club has acted over the last few years feels like the ending of a great moment in our history. Thirteen years wasted with a few seasons of neglect.

Not ONLY relegation and not a death either. But Fulham are in bed at the moment and unable to play football. It feels like a nasty illness and we have seen better days.

I think we shall find the championship a bit more enjoyable. We might win a few home games. The premiership has been miserable for us ever since Dembele left and I can't say I've enjoyed it at all. I'm looking at it as a fresh start rather than impending doom.

Death of fulham rofl... you are not old enough to remember when we had alan dicks in charge and we almost merged with qpr and fulham was amost leveled by the builders to build flats that was far more depressing than the current situation.

It would be impossible for the OP to have been through that having been born only two decades ago so his view of the club is different. As is mine.

If you can't have an opinion unless you're 60+ and were there during the last relegation then what a miserable bunch of sods you are.

Over the top perhaps, but it's the way he feels so let him express it as we have to listen to musings about the good old days.

I find adopting a simple Stoic technique helps:

intellectually sound and we can either stop going or give our undying support and then when the inevitable happens and we are mathematically relegated adopt a gallows sense of humour as we are humiliated every week until the season mercifully ends.

Blimey what a fuss!  been going since 1967 we have been in much worse places as many in this Forum will testify.

Last night was probably the worst performance I have seen but hey ho, we go on.

I would personally bring in Curbishley on the basis that he's already there, he has kept both Charlton and West Ham up before and most importantly he will have a plan...and that's what the players need right now.

As for relegation? well, it won't be the end of the world or Fulham FC for that matter.

But we ain't down yet and maybe, just maybe with a plan, we can get out of it

I think, though, that some of the OAPs amongst us were referring to the bad old days to push the point that we have been there before, in a lot worse manner than this season, and therefore to refer to this situation as being the 'Death' of Fulham is somewhat over the top. Perhaps that makes some people more accepting of the possibility of relegation, and that's not to say anyone likes it, but it's not the death of us either.

After last nights game I welcomed relegation for a fleeting time, solely due to my embarrassment at seeing the team fall to such a low, but upon reflection, we have survived here for some 12 seasons and might do so again.

It wasn't being suggested that you could only have an opinion if you 'were there'. It was that the 'death of fulham fc' was over the top considering what the club has been through before. It is ridiculous to compare the running of the club now to the way it was in the early 80's but of course if you weren't there you wouldn't know that so its understandable why the newer/younger fans would react in this way, but, it is an overreaction.

Like i said in response originally, another great escape can happen and if it doesn't you can rub it in the face of your glory hunting Arsenal/Chelsea/Man U/Liverpool supporting friends who can't prove that they would still support their club if it went down..

Great post. My sentiments entirely.

It may appear as if many of the players have given up, but none of them will want to go down. A win - or even a draw against high-ranking opposition - and maybe we can start to build up a bit of positive momentum to at least give ourselves a chance going into the last few games of the season.

Thank God Fulham-Finest you weren't around when we played in the old 4th Division... grass growing on the terraces...letters missing from the riverside stand because we couldn't afford to replace them...3000 spectators.....etc etc. Ask all those teams in the 3 divisions below ours if they think this is the " Death of Fulham ". Ah to be 21 again !

Been going to the Cottage since 1978 and I remember the bad old days. The Cottage at the back end of the 80's early 90's was truly a dump. Parts of the Hammy End crumbling down and indeed grass growing between the cracks in the terracing. I don't want it but I don't see relegation as a total disaster, more of a wake up call. Khan has put his money where his mouth is and I can assure you he won't want to own a Championship club with a low resale value. COYW. Hope is not lost !!

Obviously the title of this thread is way over the top and the over sixties are talking a lot of sense.If Khan pulls the plug then we might be looking at a Pompey scenario otherwise look forward to a good season in the Championship if it comes to that.

I can tell that you are someone who cares about Fulham and the present situation must be a shock if all you've been used to is the success we've all enjoyed since '97. by the time I was 21 I had seen FFc play in the top division and subsequently freefall through divs 1 and two in successive seasons.
Those of us over sixty have had the 'advantage' of suffering through that and worse (documented by others here).

If you're the kind of supporter I think you are you will ride through this and still be cheering the team in whatever division we are find ourselves because you are passionate and care. Who knows, in 40 years you will look back and recall to your kids the bad times,
We are all hurting, but fans hurt together and cheer together. The most important thing now is getting behind the team whoever is in charge.

Actually I was taking to a guy in Swindon who supported fulham years ago, and he said when we were in Division 1 we always struggled, similar to the way we have done in the Prem at times
