Pistorius' incredible defense

Apologies for a non Fulham topic (couldn't see where to post it) and avoiding anything litigious but I must say I'm amazed at Oscar Pistorius' defense at his shooting of his girlfriend while she was in the (locked) bathroom.

Apparently he thought it was a burglar - we know it was not, but that is his defense.

So he could have shot her in the kitchen if she was making breakfast, "I heard a noise near the toaster and I thought it was a burglar", or perhaps in the living room, "I thought a burglar had put the TV on to disguise any sounds so I went in blazing!"

Anyway, my sentiments go to the tragic loss of a beautiful girl.

Wouldn't he have called out her name to see if it was her? Also, apparently his girlfriend screamed before shots were fired. Smells very fishy.

Nick Bateman

According to his statement to arresting officers, he did NOT call out her name, nor even a warning shout to the alleged intruder.  Does not make any logical sense....

Sound like he's guilty. Although, not guilty until proven so.

I hear he shot her because she bought him a pair of socks for Christmas ?

Devils advocate - Scared man, hears noise, thinks he has let in a burglar by leaving doors open, doesn't shout out as burglar will have weapon.

We can all do odd things. It may well be a tragic accident. The moral of the story is do not have weapons as common currency.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

As I said in my opening remarks, he therefore could have shot her in the kitchen, bedroom, lounge on the same 'scared man' principle.

He should have done this afterwards if he truly loved her  090.gif

If the kitchen had a door and it was an odd time then yes I guess he could.

So the girl goes in the bathroom, locks the door because of a woman's private function and this paranoid lunatic who has an obsession for guns, blasts 4 times through the door without ever attempting to identify who is inside?  And that is HIS story!

What was on, 'Silence of the limbs ?'

All that we've heard is what has been reported in the media. We aren't in the courtroom and we haven't heard the full story so I'll reserve judgement until after the trial.

Do think it seems a dodgy defense but in all fairness burglary in South Africa isn't like it is over here. If someone breaks into your house they will murder you and everyone else in there without a second thought, so his panic is understandable.

it's being broadcast live on Sky News so guess opinions are valid.

The most disturbing thing about this case is how the media have turned this into a soap opera. Does it really need to be televised for example. No respect for the victims family.

I would have thought that if there was the possibility of a burglar in his house he would first check on his girlfriend as she would have been in bed next to him.
