Outsourcing

It would appear that FFC are going to outsource various things at Motspur Park. Jobs like security and catering are going to be run by companies like G4S. They Dostill have to live down the fiasco of the London Olympics. Do you think that this move will further reduce Fulham's reputation as a family club.

Unfortunately, it is something that has to be done.  I work for a major oil company and we outsource activities when: management don't want the responsibility, not enough people to do the work within the company, the outsourcing firm can (not normally the case) do it cheaper or it is something ultra-specialised...  a probable sign of the redundancies at Fulham FC.

Very unfortunate for the people that have lost their jobs but I don't think it will impact our club's image.

Had to be done you can't employee 140-160 non matchday staff not including players in the championship.

Not sure about England but in the states usually when an outsourcing company comes in they rehire a good portion of the staff that they are replacing.  Less training that way for the various duties. 
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

Anything that improves the bunch of rabble we have at present gets the green light from me. I know G4S got a bad name over the Olympics, but it they can a) talk English b) escort someone to a seat without minimal fuss and c) put a hotdog in a roll, thats fine.

75% of the company I work for is going to be taken over by a French company who is pretty certain to offshore the work. This also happened to my sister inlaw's IT department at Standard life last year. Therefore byebye jobs. Mind you my sister in law now works for a Dutch company in Edinburgh who are very good to their staff, so I'm hoping to find a good company myself, therefore change is not all bad.

I got the impression that stewarding at Fulham had improved notably over the last few years so it'll be a shame if all of that good work is undone. I was under the impression that Fulham had partly outsourced some of its services anyway.

.. and what makes you think G4S staff could actually accomplish any of those things?

G4S were recently found guilty of fraud. How the hell do we trust a company guilty of fraud by falsifying records, over-claiming for work never done, excessive force (they make the TSG look like pussy cats), and accused of employing scum-bags at the lowest wage they could get away with? I wouldn't trust them not to sell off MP to the ha ha's for a bag of donuts, let alone handle security.

This company has been investigated both sides of the pond, and found wanting, and had to give up Government contracts becuase they were useless.

That's very short-sighted of the company Berserker. I recall a company I worked for did the same, and the Help Desk support costs increased to an all-time high, and the workload and quality dropped substantially. Dell fell foul of the same thing. Companies never learn the true worth of their employees, until they have none left.

I've just put the rest of 'my' staff on salary to give them a sense of security and to make it easier to control payroll.
They also get 50% of Health insurance, dental, and disability (long and short term) paid + a free phone, with some
restrictions.
We've had the same 15/16 people for a few years and I aim to keep them.
2/3 bad apples have been 'moved out' and the working environment is good.
Staff are the best asset any company has, more so than the product in many cases.

This does not affect the match day security, it's the permanent staff and they can certainly speak English

A horrible part of the modern world I'm afraid. Outsourcing means an employee doesn't have to pay pension contributions, sick pay or holiday pay. How people are supposed to plan their future under these conditions is beyond me and a blot on society.

Normally on the right of the political spectrum, I wonder if perhaps it's time for a labour government so the unions can redress the imbalance in the workplace.

Mind you I'm voting UKIP myself. Good old Nige, wonder if he's a Fulham supporter, he appears eccentric enough to be.

The outsourcing provider is still an employer and as such has the same obligations as "normal" employers. The main issue is the one around employment protection, as the relationship lies with the outsoucing company rather than the place where the person may be working at.

I worked at a large bank, I won't mention who but the UK taxpayers are now the owners, and they outsourced my job to India 5 years ago. That experiment lasted 2 years before they realised their folly and now it's done up in Manchester. I now work for another firm that has dealings with this Manchester office and they don't know their arse from their elbow, becasue they fired all of the people with knowledge and experience.
