I went for mark, but young betts is growing on me

Folks who want Black Mark between the sticks obviously were out of town during his last two seasons with us. Betts is raw but he has a huge upside. Playing all the league matches between now and the end of the season will just make him better and better. Mark? He was visibly deteriorating when he played every Saturday TWO SEASONS AGO. Imagine how his skills have eroded after two seasons getting splinters in his ass and counting his money.

Schwarzer was huge in our success during his years at Fulham and often pulled off seemingly impossible saves. Sure, towards the end of his time with us he was visibly deteriorating but I think people forget just how good he was for us. I voted for him for this reason, although Betts vs the Mark of now, Betts would get my vote - he's been fantastic, and just what we needed.

Well, if the choice was Schwarzer four years ago, then sure, although I'd prefer EVDS 10 years ago, if that's the criteria.

surely our other keeper should be in this list. i really like betts, but i might be tempted to play stek if he weren't out on loan

I find this the strangest quote of the day..... Steklenberg for me was our worst keeper to wear the shirt, since Tony Warner.

I thought he was the Dutch Antii Niemi -- very good at the really difficult stuff, but could come unglued at the routine stuff.

I thought Niemi was a far better keeper for us than Steklenberg, but I see what you are saying. For me Steklenberg had one good game, got injured and never returned to the player he was.....
I didn't think he did anything good after that Sunderland game, and as I say become one of our worst keepers for a while.

Betts has been a revelation. He is also young, ambitious, and always improving. Hope we sign him to a long term contract with so many of our other youngsters
Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

Bedford White

You can't live in the past - Bettinelli is here and he has my full confidence.

I agree. I'd have betts over schwarzer now..... Joronen will be good but why Magath picked him over betts is beyond me.

He is. Class .

Betts was injured at the start of the season, otherwise I think he would have started as #1

MJG

We would be in a stronger position if Stockdale was still here. To have Betts and Stockdale instead of Betts and Kiraly.
I'm still a Stockdale fan and for me the number one mistake Magath made was not giving him the chance to be the No1 from the start of the season.

We only need a number 2 keeper for when number 1 gets injured.

Right now Bettinelli already looks better than Stockdale with years of improvement to come hopefully. It really wouldn't be fair on Stockdale to be our permanent number 2.

If Bettinelli gets injured there are any number of Premier League reserves available on short term loans from clubs happy to give their reserves game time. Instant recall of course.

So 75% would choose Betts.... And some of the rest chose the schwarzer of 4 years ago than the one today.

I think that safely means for once we are happy with the keeper.

I have to say I think he has kept us in quite a few games recently.....

Quite right, too. He's been pretty impressive.

If you were to allow the Schwarzer of five years ago, you would also have to allow the Bettinelli of five years time as, at 22, he's still only a baby as a keeper. In five years time he might be better than Schwarz was five yeras ago..........now my brain hurts.

Our current No. 1 is a revelation.

Spot on.  This kid is an absolute find.  I posted last week that I fully expect to lose him him to a Premier League club so the sooner we get back up the better.

But Stockdale wanted a guarantee that he'd be the No 1.

And I'm very happy with Bettinelli  -  as long as he doesn't get injured!
