Struggling Cottagers turn to Turner in hopes he sings like a Canary

Fulham boss Kit Symons has looked to East Anglia in an attempt to shore up his backline and prevent Fulham from sliding ever further into a relegation dogfight. In order to add steel to his defence, Symons has brought in vastly-experienced ex-Hull and Sunderland defender Michael Turner (31) on loan from Norwich City.

In 22 appearances (2049 minutes) for Norwich this season, Turner has scored one goal and provided one assist but it is for his defensive experience that Fulham have gained his signature. He has made 34 tackles this term from 44 attempts (77% success rate) and 59 interceptions of opponent passes and it will be this defensive experience and capability that Fulham will be turning to as they attempt to recreate that old adage that whilst £11m strikers win games, it's defences that win trophies. Whilst no trophies are at stake, Turner, wh0 is expected to go straight into the Fulham first team on Saturday is relishing the chance to make a difference and help out his fellow Cottagers.

Fulham reject McCormack approaches

The Cottagers signed the former Leeds United striker in a £10 million deal in the summer but he has attracted interest from several clubs, though he is not likely to leave

Fulham have rebuffed several enquiries for Ross McCormack , Goal understands.

Norwich City, Derby County, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest are all understood to have made their interest in acquiring the forward known.

But Goal understands that Fulham were quick to dismiss the idea of McCormack leaving the club.

Fulham signed McCormack from Leeds United in the summer in a deal which could end up breaking the £10 milion barrier, but the Craven Cottage side have struggled in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League.

Head coach Felix Magath was sacked in September with the club in danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table and Kit Symons replaced the German, but Fulham remain in trouble and sit just one place above the relegation zone.

McCormack has scored ten goals for Fulham this season, despite often being deployed in a wide position, and he is wanted by a number of teams in contention for promotion to the Premier League.
