I wouldn't mind seeing Terry as captain of an Argentine regiment under Mr. Finn's guns, but it really doesn't matter to me. If you are (a) drunk and disorderly and taunting American tourists in a hotel on September 12, 2001, (b) involved in back-handers for private tours of The Home of the Undead, and (c) linked with a private money-making scheme involving wearing the national armband in commercials and HAVEN'T been stripped of the captaincy yet, then why would a little bit of shagging of a teammate's bird do the trick?

Apparently, there are some folks who "follow Fulham" would probably approve of everything the knuckle-dragger has done -- like the bright spart over on Facebook taking Roy to task for not signing Joey Barton yesterday. Seems we need a "box-to-box midfielder with a hard edge to him" to stop us from being kicked all over the park. He justifies this by saying that Fulham "is a Christian football club and Christianity is all about forgiveness."

The best retort I saw was that rather than being a "box to box midfielder" Barton was a "back to prison midfielder."

He should be made Captain of England for the rest of his career.

What has he done that any of you would not have done given the chance and thinking you could get away with it??????

BIG NO FROM BLIN GO lol.

Fabio Capello rang Wayne Bridge today " Wayne, John Terry has lost his captains armband" "Could you look under your bed for it?"

Most definitely YES... he should resign right now.

However who do you think of when we consider the most archetypical World Cup winning England Captain and role model

Well anyone who has read football autobiographies will discover there were plenty of skeletons-a-rattling in Bobby's cupboard.

Who else would we consider for the role?

David Beckham – allegedly ******* the nanny while Posh was out
Wayne Rooney – allegedly ******* a granny when Colleen wasn't looking
Stevie G – finest brief in the land got him off GBH charge.

Maybe we should ask Sven for advice on this? .... No hold hard – don't bother.

The fact of having so much money buggers up their moral compass, they think they can do anything and the money will take care of the consequences......... well boys.... think on.....

Absolutely! Give the job to Ashley Cole...  :P

Coles been caught speeding yet again. Asked why, he told the officer that Terrys 4x4 was parked outside his house.

I hope your jokin' blingo coz this attitude is disgraceful. The captain of a team has a responsibility to represent that team at all times. Some of us have higher moral standards than to lower ourselves to the level of a tom cat. Getting away with it doesn't make right. Affairs destroy lives, but sh***ing on your own doorstep is the most despicable act. The fact that he hasn't resigned yet proves that he has no conscience and I don't care if he were the best player on the planet, he should not be captain.

Cheating with Alonsos Mrs would not make him any better (although I'm sure he would have got some kudos from the Man U boys), the moral of the story is don't sh1t on a team mate.

[/quote]
Hmm, so if it had been some other footballers girlfriend, not an England team-mate, say Alonso's, what degree would that cause?

Don't forget Rio and Fat Frank roasting some bird in Aiya Napa, albeit a few years ago. The squad isn't exactly well behaved!

Exactly FulhamAustin, there are VERY few of our so-called stars that would make any kind of moral standing when we look a little closer. So we are down to degrees of how immoral is each player.

If we restrict it just to the shaggers (or alledged shaggers - for legal purposes), then we rule out Becks, Terry, Lumpy, Rio and Rooney. But we cannot ignore the Gerrard case of beating up a geezer when out getting pi$$ed up with your mates either, so who do we think should now take the sacred armband?

Any offers?

LBNo11

...with the paucity of morals and standards by the recent captains of England, it is no surprise they are revered by the feral masses who copy or live by the same rules.

Just because they all do, or can do, it is no excuse. What we may or may not do as individuals given the opportunity is neither here nor there, as we do no have an influence or a moral obligation with the position we hold and the influence we can make on generations by our actions.

These fortunate people should have the responsibilities of their actions; if people think that is fine, and of no importance to sully the previous good name of an England team in front of the world, then it has become a very sad place...

what two adults do in private is a private matter, it`s now up to mrs terry to decide how she deals with the situation she`s been put in.

it has nothing to do with their jobs.

as for influence, people should use their parents and family as role models not a jumped footballer and his bit on the side, i would advise my kids to look at them as an immoral way to live.

my answer is no.

blingo

Exactly Don, it has absolutely nothing to do with his job. If he had been caught shagging Abramovitch´s missus then I could understand him losing not only his job but his head also. As for the England Captaincy, sorry but I just dont see why it should be affected. After all, did the woman not open her legs willingly? Two adults consenting to a sexual encounter should not lead to a condemnation of his position in his job. He is hardly part of MI6 is he?

vagrant

Don't like the bloke but on football matters only it has to be a NO.

Peabody

I have posed this question because, though I think he should lose the armband, I also bring into question the media. How many times do they do this just prior to a World Cup. The media love to make life difficult for our footballers. Who remembers the Bobby Moore incident just prior to the Mexico World Cup in 1970? They (the English press) went to town on that story, a story that was proved to be completely unfounded.

Logicalman

I have to say, it's been a very interesting read to see other peoples pov on this. Great subject Peabody, if not absolutely controversial.

I would like to point out, as I believe others might be of a same mind, to say that any argument I might put forward for the pros and cons to Terry's behavior, notwithstanding his morals would make a alley-cat blush, please do not take any inference whatsoever that I condone or otherwise his actions, or morals, but any argument I do put forward should be taken in the context of the question only, that is, should he lose the armband due to his (now public) indiscretions.

And no, SWMBO has NOT forced me to make such a proclamation in fear of warming the spare bed for a period of time, either!!  :-\ :-\

Fantastic Questionnaire Mr. Peabody

Mr. HatterD, I too would want to see JT behind the Argentine lines - there'd be no stopping the Finnster.

If I were a player on the England squad, I would not want J.Terry as my Captain.  He's not the type of leader I would want to follow.
