          Lonegan
       Baird  Madl   Burn
Fred         Parker        Ream/Kavangh
       LVC/Tunni    Cairney
           Ross     Moussa

Subs:  Richards, LVC/Tunni   Hydman   O'Hara   Stearman  Smith

I can only assume that Jova was happy with the draw last night. the game was
crying out for a 10/15 minute cameo by Smith against his old club and I can't
remember GJ mentioning Moussa in the last 15/20 minutes.
Their defence was a bit shaky and not very tall
Kavanagh is out on loan

Can't he be recalled ?
Unlikely I know
VERY DAFT AND A LOT DAFTER THAN I SEEM, SOMETIMES

I can only surmise that amongst other attributes SJ likes about Amorebieta is that he tries to 'bully' opposition forwards if he can.

In his early games I thought Stearman approached the game like that as well but maybe he started losing confidence when we were on a poor run.

Madl has impressed me recently, and the 4 at the back did not do well against what should have been a poor Charlton team, so maybe Burn, Madl and Stearman might be a good shout against Boro.

Hopefully whoever replaces Amorebieta does so well they take his place, not because it is Amorebieta particularly, but simply that there is the right sort of competition for places in the starting XI.

Remember he's hardly getting any game time at Mansfield...mostly on the bench

Have to agree I don't think Stearman is as bad as people make him to be.  I would do either Stearman or Ream in a straight swap.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

JackyFulham90

Stearman for Amorebieta
Ream for Garbutt

Ream is very good on the ball.
A spell on the sides may make Stearman much improved. A very capable centre half on his day

If we stick to a back 3 there's no way Ream should be playing wing back, he may be good on the ball when he has it but the game will just pass him by.
A classic LB position maybe but wing back never!

Have to agree here.  Ream is not a wing back as doesn't really get forward or go 1v1.  He is more your calm on the ball find a good pass guy.

I do remember Stearman dishing it out, and thinking he was lucky not to get a card. I was impressed by him at first.

But I suppose he lacks the height and presence of Burn and Amoriebieta, and conceding from corners and  set pieces was a big problem, and we are certainly seem to be coping much better defensively with the latter set- up.

Play a defensive side against Middlesborough
Maybe 4-3-1-2
                 AL
RF.    DB.       MM.    LG.
       SP.    CB.   JOH.
                TC.
          MS.       RM.
I'd like to see Smith over Dembele this weekend

Chutney

Ream is the obvious choice, left footed and looked OKAY when played previously, Stearman is awful.

We went for that shape against Charlton and weren't very good at all. If we're to go defensive, I think we'd have to go with one striker and play a 4411 with Parker and Baird sitting in front of the back four. Cairney behind Ross or Moussa. Fredericks right midfield with Jazz Richards behind him, Kacaniklic or Labyad on the left.

I think Middlesbrough would tear us apart if we went with that diamond.

When was the last time we played 4411? I agree to playing cairney behind our forwards, but the team benefits from more than a lone striker imo

I'm not saying play that, I posted earlier what I'd do (stick with 352 with Richards flipped over to the right hand side). My reply to you was me just saying how I'd play it if we were to go defensive.
