Madi is injured which explains his sub last week and Ince is a Brighton player obviously. Cairney is still suffering from a dead leg and will also miss the game

The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Nothing much else in the press conference. SJ said we are still under pressure and must keep playing for the fans. Brighton under a different pressure. We will have a good support.

Then logically the team almost picks itself, with the possibility of Garbutt and Baird playing instead of Ream and Parker.

Betts
Fredericks - Stearman - Amore - Ream
LVC - Parker - Tunni - Hyndman
Dembele - McCormack

But of course Slavisa might surprise us all once more...

Looks the most likely line-up, but for an away game with one of the better teams in the division I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Bairdinho playing alongside Parker as one of two holding midfielders at the expense of either LVC or Hyndman.

Could possibly go back to 3-5-2 with

             Stearman - Burn - Amore
      Fred - LVC - Parker - Hyndman - Garbutt
              McCormack - Dembele

Like you say, who knows?

Missing those three somewhat tempers expectations for the away trip however.

I like that line up but midfield looks a bit lightweight. Maybe Baird in alongside Parker with either LVC or Garbutt on the bench.  the good news is that Zamora has an injury so can't score against us!

Tunnicliffe  Baird   Parker  Hyndman
                      McCormack Dembele

Lonergan , Burn,  Garbutt , Labyad,  LVC,  Smith , Woodrow

really don't get how anyone could still like the 3 5 2

Not necessarily a fan. I was just stating that, since SJ has gone to that well before it is possible that he goes back to it. The only reason for that thought was that we're a bit short on personnel down the spine of the team with Madl, Ince, and Cairney out. It might make sense to try and compact the middle of the field and line up a bit more defensively - since the 3-5-2 can so easily become the 5-3-2 when we've not got the ball.

I'm not so sure he will. Was it the Preston game where we went to the 352 at half time. We went from comfortable to God damn lucky to win. It's a poor formation for the players we have

I like Richard Stearman but a full back he ain't.  The prospect of him on the right in a 3 5 2 is a bit of a worry if Fred is in front.

Well, you guys see far more Fulham football than I do, being at the games and able to see them all. As well, I'm not familiar with how Brighton play. If they have strong wing play, I'd agree that the Fred/Stears (Garbutt/Amore too for that matter) combo would be scary for us and not the best. If they play more up the middle and direct, it's possible that it could work.

Who really knows with this lot? SJ has just got them believing in themselves again (2.5 seasons of serious damage to the playing squad is difficult to overcome). I'm going to be ok if we continue to play strongly, no matter the result. Not necessarily happy about a loss mind you, just pleased if we're playing confidently and aggressively.

I like the idea of Baird and Parker protecting the back 4, much needed protection. Time for all the players to dig deep and get at least a draw....2-2 perhaps. 049:gif

personally,I couldn't think of a worst midfield pairing. If ever you are picking a midfield to get pinned in your own third, then that's it
