Millwall are interested in Fulham defender Shaun Hutchinson - who is being released by the Championship outfit.

Lions boss Neil Harris wants to bring in a centre-back with Mark Beevers rejecting the chance to stay when his deal runs out on July 1.

And the South London Press understands that Hutchinson, who impressed for Motherwell before joining Fulham, is on their list of signing targets

League 1 is probably about his level, will do well there

Didn't they get promoted? Thought they did.

If so, Hutch remains in Champ

EDIT: Just realised they didn't get promoted. Be interested to see how he gets on in the league below.

Millwall sign Shaun Hutchinson on two-year deal

SHAUN Hutchinson will join Millwall on a two-year deal when his contract with Fulham expires at the end of the month.

The 25-year-old will officially join the club on July 1 on a free transfer from the West London side.

Hutchinson is a right-footed centre-half who has played predominantly on the left-hand side of a defensive pairing.

He made 41 appearances for Fulham since he joined them from Motherwell back in 2014 having played 138 times for the Scottish side.

And Harris is delighted to have secured the signature of the Newcastle-born defender.

"I tracked him a couple of years ago," Harris said. "He first came to the forefront when he was playing in Scotland.

"Millwall tried to sign him, we made a bid for him, Kenny Jackett really pursued him to try and get him, but it didn't quite come off.

"I saw him play a couple of years ago at Fulham and we tried to get him then and again, we couldn't get him – but I really liked him then.

"We monitored the situation all season and we saw him play this past year."

Hutchinson will be the second summer signing for Millwall after winger David Worrall signed from Southend.

And Harris has told fans what they can expect from the new signing.

"He's a very aggressive centre-half that wants to head it and tackle," Harris explained. "That's certainly the centre-half I like to have in my team – he fits the bill.

"He is like David Worrall, he's at an excellent age in his career and he certainly is a man who has a point to prove. He wants to get back into the Championship and play at that level.

"We certainly look forward to him joining us on July 1."

Why would anyone want Rodellega. That makes NO sense. Especially for $1.7M

19 Goals in 30 starts in the Turkish Super League - a very good return
In the right team he can still deliver .

Hugo was one of the biggest wastes of money in recent Fulham history. A free transfer, but ludicrously high wages which he conspicuously failed to justify.

Excuse me for being what some will regard as being a giddy or derange optimist but my assumption would be that those at the club would understand that it would be preferable to get players in early.

The trouble is that getting in a player is not like buying a packet of cornflakes from a supermarket or local 24/7. Currently the players are on holiday or possibly playing in some competition. Then when you get to speak with their club and the player they will want time to consider any offer. That will be complicated if any other clubs are also interested in that player when there will be bidding over the fee before that player and agent negotiate the contract. The selling club may then want to get in a replacement before committing to selling. And both the selling club and player may drag it out until the end of the transfer window to see if a better offer comes forward from some other club desperate because a planned deal fell through at the last moment.

That's just how the transfer window is for all clubs except possibly for a few of the richest who are only looking for one or two players and have the dosh to pay the asking price.

A superb explanation of why transfers are such a work of art rather than science, and ultimately down to the amounts of money changing hands.  If you have a masterpiece on your hands then it is a free-for-all auction; if you have a goodish work then it is where the player wants to be at a realistic income; if you have your average painting then expect average interest.   If you get a player too easily then think about pigs in pokes.

SIMON JONES: Hull City have made enquiries about Fulham striker Ross McCormack and have an interest in Manchester United's Phil Jones but won't formalise any offers until they have assurances from Steve Bruce he is to continue as manager of the club.
Bruce's position is expected to become clearer after this weekend with Hull keen to confirm the 55-year-old as the man who will lead them back into the Premier League next season.
McCormack is a player Bruce admires as he has a proven goalscoring record and would cost Hull £12m. He and his scouting department know Hull need to improve their attacking options if they are to have an impact on the Premier League and would also like to add the likes of United utility player Jones who could be allowed out on loan.
However, much will depend on what budget and support Hull's owners or prospective buyers can guarantee.

Defender Dan Burn will join Wigan Athletic on a three-year deal when his Fulham contract expires at the end of the month.

Dan Burn will be a Wigan player this season

Centre-back Burn has passed a medical with the Sky Bet Championship new boys and will become their third signing ahead of the 2016-17 season.

He played 32 games in the Championship for Fulham last season and joins Stephen Warnock and Alex Gilbey as a summer arrival at the DW Stadium.

Boss Gary Caldwell is pleased to have secured the services of the 24-year-old, and said: "He fits our profile exactly, young, hungry and with experience at this level and the desire to progress with us.

"He is a powerful defender, but he likes to play as well and adds tremendous competition to the squad."

JPCL

Seems like a decent lad but he's a dreadful footballer, good luck to him and cue his winner
when we play them in September.

He'll thrive at Wigan I believe.

He's got a similar personality and character to Caldwell and Caldwell was a solid defender over his career.

As for Burn, he's made a good career step - sideways albeit, but he'll learn from a good coach and won't suffer the pressure he'd have at our club.

Wish him all the best, he's a nice lad too.

+1 all of that

Yes, let's hope he enjoys success. Seemed a decent, well grounded sort.

Celtic are the latest club to be linked with Moussa Dembele.

Can't see him going there, but he was good mates with Roberts who will be there again as far I'm aware.

Good player, Jorgensen. Would suit us.
However, this might prove to be a wee bit of an obstacle:
