"You kinda have to laugh on here at everyone slating Kline and the stats based approach when the first thing everyone does when we are linked to someone new is go on wikipedia and judge them on their stats"

No incongruity here. Quite reasonable, with a striker for example, to be interested in his strike rate in previous seasons. But if a competent manager like Roy or SJ signed someone whose rate seemed very low we'd assume they had their reasons and look forward to seeing what contribution the player made.

IF the reports about Kline are accurate, he is able to veto signings SJ would like to have achieved. That is a very different matter.

No one would regard stats. as wholly irrelevant. The mistake is to assume that they tell the whole story or should make a determining contribution to decisions.

Exactly.

Stats have been used for years. They can be used to identify possibly targets and highlight issues with their play but then it requires careful judgement to evaluate that data in the light of seeing that player in the context of their team and league and other factors such as their personality and attitude.

And if the latest rumour that the Man. Utd. player was rejected because there weren't enough stats is true then that is taking the reliance on stats too far.

Fulham make ?3.5m offer for Eibar forward Sergi Enrich - Sky sources
Fulham have made a bid in the region of ?3.5m for Eibar forward Sergi Enrich, Sky sources understand.

Enrich scored 11 goals in 41 matches for the La Liga outfit last season.

The 26-year-old grew up on the Balearic island of Menorca and came through the ranks at Real Mallorca. He made his debut for the club in 2010 before joining Numancia three years later.

After a prolific spell with Numancia, where he netted 26 goals in 76 Segunda Division matches, Enrich joined Eibar in 2015 on a two-year deal.

The 26 year-old forward, who came through the youth team ranks at Real Mallorca, scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for Eibar last season. He scored nine teams in La Liga last season, including two in Eibar?s last two games of the season, as they finished in fourteenth place, five points clear of the drop. Enrich played twelve minutes as a substitute of their opening game of this campaign, a 2-1 defeat by Deportivo.

Enrich, capped by the Spanish under-19 side during his youth career, only joined Eibar last season after scoring 26 goals in 76 league games for Segunda side Numancia. The Spanish side are thought to be open to doing a deal that would lead to his departure, but it remains to be seen whether Fulham?s opening offer comes close to matching their valuation.

Slavisa Jokanovic has made the recruitment of a striker a top departure having lost Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele during the summer, but his rumoured pursuit of former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan was called off yesterday afternoon.

Slavisa Jokanovic has revealed Fulham are ?very close? to signing a new striker.

And speaking in his press conference at the club?s Motspur Park training ground this afternoon, Jokanovic explained just how close he was to adding to his squad.

The Fulham head coach said ?Generally we haven?t covered the position of striker and we don?t have enough people in this area ? we are talking about a position that we still have to cover and I think we are going to sign one or two strikers.?

?Actually right now a player is in our building and is very close to becoming part of our club.

But while it is unclear who the mystery man is, whispers suggest it is unlikely to be the ex-Premier League striker Gyan who bagged 11 goals in 35 games for Sunderland between 2010 and 2012.?

What do you think, this could be a good signing, has experience at la liga last season

last year

LaLiga

Copa del Rey
3 games

not bad

Perhaps you should offer your stats service to the club. Could really help SJ decide which players he should be signing.

Blackburn have just signed a winger on season long loan from West Ham, maybe freeing up Ben Marshall  to Fulham?

His manager confirmed today hes coming to us after tonights game, apparently

If so, more real good news!

Surely this is about Kebano and not Ben Marshall... Blackburn aren't even playing today

With regards to Kline and stats, do they use the same stats to determine if a player is worth having their contract renewed?
@leightonrw07

The Rock

Stats/return looks good. That's all that matters. Sign on the dotted line please.

We could actually do worse, looks a decent striker. I wouldn't expect much better from the club.

Name looks a little easy to pronounce though.

I wonder who is in the building, could we get a striker today, mince n tatties will be loving this

I'm going to set myself up for disappointment, but I'm predicting Bamford (given that he was having dinner with Fredricks last night)

So according to Joka's Blackburn preview, Sarah said that there are 2 players currently having medicals. Who are we predicting? Kabano and Bamford?

I think he said one is a central midfield but was talking as though they are still looking for a striker.
First game: Fulham 4 Burnley 0, December 12th 1998.

Kebano should be back in Belgium today. He's meant to be on the bench for Genk's Europa League qualifier tonight.
