Newcastle aren't messing around

win-dup

Ernie is probably too busy thinking of yet another excuse to not start work on the Riverside to think about buying players.

We've seen O'Hara for a whole season. I'll be throwing a major tantrum if we resign him.

Rumblings already that there is a power struggle between Rigg and Jokanovic over who wants what players. No doubt that I'll accused of not having a direct 'source' but I've no reason to doubt where my information comes from. Have been told that Riggs list differs somewhat to Jokanovics, and if Rigg had his way, O'Hara would be handed an extension rather than Delaney coming in. IF this is the case, then we've really learn't nothing from our past problems.
So fact Ohara has not been given a contract shows whos winning then

Its a fact that he hasn't been given another contract, yet, so yes, maybe Jokanovic is winning, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Be sure that Rigg will raise his ugly head at some point along the player acquisition stage, by either delaying proceeds, or even negotiating us out of potential deals.

Well done for managing to squeeze a fact in by the way, I knew it wouldn't take long.

sorry but is all this supposed to be surprising or worrying?

the club have said ever since his appointment that rigg, just like any director of football, would have some input into transfer policy

at any club it's going to be a collective effort with input from the chairman, CEO, director of football, manager, statisticians, scouts et al...

if anything it's quite reassuring that, as MJG says, we seem to have given Jokanovic final say

Statto, no offence, but like a few others, you do love to throw around a few numbers, and automatically think that you know what goes on around this Club. Your knowledge is no greater, if not less than any one else, and I'd rather trust the judgement of my own people, thanks.

Just for the record, MJG doesn't know any different as to whether Jokanovic has the final say on players or not, so that statement is just absolutely ridiculous.

I would rather trust the judgement of posters who don't deride the posts of others, particularly for their use of facts and numbers, over those who specialise in negative posts based on their anonymous 'own people'.

Newcastle have just signed a keeper for £5m as well. If they go on to sign Ritchie and Gayle that would be some week.

Can someone explain why we can't go mental and spend big time if it doesn't affect others?

Beamer

Aren't there rules about sponsorship and involved companies etc.

To be fair Newcastle are a genuinely massive club and their revenues reflect that

50,000 fans a week so right away that's one major revenue stream that will probably be three times ours

bigger, better sponsorship deals... some from the chairman's company so guaranteed to be sustained

they'll be getting first year parachute payments, which are the largest

and they'll probably generate several tens of millions from a few inevitable player sales before the summer's over... Wijnaldum for example

He may well sponsor some things for Newcastle but he cannot over value them so they get more sponsor money from him, Man City  and PSG fell foul of that when the excess (amount over valued) was excluded from their income.

To read about Newcastle and their finances you won't find anything better than this http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2016/04/newcastle-united-what-waste.html?m=1

While short of the really big boys their commercial and matchday income is better than virtually everyone else.

11 teams in the championship still with 0 singings and many like us on 1. Blackburn are the exception. Don't sweat it, window not officially open until July 1st.

I'm sure they've been working hard behind the scenes for some time.

On another note, we aren't exactly gonna be competing with Newcastle in any case. Huge club, already great squad, great manager, back in the Prem next year, Us? Well I dunno about you but I'd settle for mid table if offered it now. We simply aren't a Prem team any more so may as well be realistic.

The problem is we have a lot more work to do than all the other clubs.

Just 2 places lower last season & we'd be playing League 1 football now, that's how poor we've become. And when you also consider we've lost one of the leagues top scorers already in Dembele, it's safe to say we're currently worse than we were last season, which is a big worry because the few teams worse than us went down, (3 of the 4 anyway).

Everyone seems to obsessed with getting players in as soon as possible regardless of quality. I'd like to think they are taking their time to buy the RIGHT players not just getting bodies in to appease the fans.

Those saying Newcastle are "probably" bigger than us... really? Ha ha!

yes you're right but "value" is an ambiguous thing (ultimately value is just what someone is willing to pay) and i imagine that ambiguity can be exploited as long as the chairman doesn't take the pi$$

so perhaps a market expert's estimate says the value of newcastle's shirt sponsorship is probably around £10-15m. Ashley says ok i'll pay £16m... i'm no expert but i don't imagine the football would challenge that

as a smaller club maybe our market value is only £5m... then of course we screw that up and get visit florida for £600k
Not so sure there as city valued there stadium sponsorship at a ridculously high amount and an equally ridiculous amount had to be removed for their fairplay calcs

But it is a stupid rule that isnt working and needs to be rmeoved or enforced rigourously on every team and not letting someteams go 3 years + contesting it, if you sign up for the rules the pay up on penalise them!!!!

Seems that Newcastle are doing a Boro. $hit or bust.
I don´t think I would take the risk.
