I remember his debut in a 2-0 defeat at Saints.

Some good (?) memories here.  I wrote an article for TOOFIF (issue 136 – the 40 years since the Cup final double issue) entitled "The one and only".  This detailed every player to have made just 1 appearance for the club in a first team match.  From Ben Millington in 1909 up to Adil Chihi in August 2014 there were 52, a few of which have been mentioned on here.

Other "notable" names likely forgotten since the 1980's include Clive Day, Des Vertannes, Alan Dowson (now Manager of Hampton & Richmond), Carl Bartley, John Gregory (keeper who came on as sub following sending off and never played again), Lea Barkus, & Phil Barber.  There are of course plenty of others......

Astounded that anyone could forget Dirk Lehmann!  Affectionately known as Porn Star with plasters over both ears (presumably he spent his signing on fee on a pair of earrings and in his excitement decided to pierce his own ears with a rusty nail)

Gobsmacked that anyone could forget The Great Facundo Sava!! Nicknamed Zorro. Played with a mask in his sock. Charlton fans all brought masks to the cup game we played against them that they would all put on when they scored. We won 3-0. A great character

Trying to think of someone with a reasonably high profile that others may have forgotten about.. Des Bremner, played once for Scotland in 1976. Joined us 13 years later...
