Mince n Tatties

Going through box of old programmes in the shed
this morning and came across one from 1997 and
profile on Christer Warren, remember him at all I'd forgotten him.

Came on loan from Southampton played 11 times.
Anyone else remember players that came and went
from club and memory.. 049:gif

Williams Tale

Scottish international Steve Archibald played twice for us in 1992 .

Stewart Jump Left Back loan from Palace
Alan Pinkney Midfield loan from Palace
Alan Warboys Centre Forward loan from Brighton (?)
Ronnie Goodless Left Wing loan from Everton
Allan Mansley Left Wing loan from Brentford
Hugh Burns Right Back loan from Kilmarnock (?)
Iain Hesford Goalkeeper loan from ?
None of the loans became permanent although, of them all, Burns was the best bet.

Brian McDermott played a couple of games for us in the 80s.

Alan Stephenson on loan from West Ham in the Seventies, Paul Mahorn on loan from Spurs in the Nineties.

Alan Shearer.... It was only for a Testimonial match, Terry Hurlock I think(?)
It was a Fulham Home 11 v a Fulham Away 11.
It was just after he had signed for Newcastle Utd.
He missed a sitter up the Hammersmith End and got roundly jeered and shouts of "What a waste of Money".
Might not count, but he did play for us....Once!

Or maybe Mitroglou?

Peter Kitchen 79-80 -high scoring striker from Orient, who, of course, only scored 6 goals for us, and was injured a lot of the time.

Peter Marinello, 78-80, once seen as the new George Best, and Arsenal's first £100,000 signed, signed for Fulham from Motherwell.

Brian Dear, 1969 - West Ham favourite signed for Fulham in 1969, but then went to Millwall before going back to West Ham.

Another West Ham  favourite was Johnny Byrne, played for Fulham 68-69.

Cliff Jones was a member of the  famous Spurs Double winning side of the early 60's, and played for Fulham 68-70.

Peter Storey won the Double with Arsenal, and signed for Fulham in 1977 before retiring  eight months later.

Trevor Lee (ex-Millwall) played for us in the nineties - just one appearance, if I recall correctly.

Colin McCurdy also made just one start, I believe - down at Southampton (circa 1977).

A Scandanavian guy, Runstrom?, signed when Cookie was manager - played once in a League Cup tie versus Wycombe?

Fleming Hansen, another Scandanavian, who was here around 1974. I'm thinking he made a lone appearance as a substitute, but he may not even have achieved as much as that.

Paul Shrubb: a couple of games at full-back in the early seventies before we sent him packing to Brentford for his sins.

Turlough O'Connor: a couple of (debut?) goals in a surprise 4-1 cup win at Sunderland in 1969. He only played a couple more games thereafter.

Brendan Mullen certainly played (may well have been his debut, too) in the same cup-tie at Roker Park and possibly scored. His fortunes took the same path as O'Connor's and he was subsequently selected three-or-four times, if that.

Peter Marinello is the best call yet.  He had such a reputation and faded so rapidly.

That was one of the better friendlies & the players seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves.  Shearer was a gent & must've signed hundreds of autographs before, durning & after the game.

That's right :) Hurlock did play in the Shearer team at Southampton though.  We had a few with a Southampton connection.
