!Oh My God!
Everywhere you go on the street, pub, shops,
on Television that's all you hear..
Where did that come from?

I'm pretty sure it stems from the influence of american culture, more specifically reality tv shows aimed at teenagers.

My nomination for most irritating expression is "as I said".

Grew up to learn that repeating oneself is sub-optimal.  Better to pay the listener the compliment of assuming the point registered first time.

But we all repeat ourselves occasionally- it's hardly a cardinal sin.  That's not the problem.  What cheeses me of is when people say "as I said", when they haven't already said it.  That's bananas.  Would you apologise to a crowded train carriage for a fart you didn't let off?  When no fart was detectable?

I used to say it all the time. Drove me potty. I think I have got out the habit. As I said I also hate the letter Aitch pronounced Haitch with a hard Aitch. But as I said we all live and learn.

Sorry to be even pickier with the English language. The proper English for the topic title should be " Anyone else fed up WITH hearing the expression" NOT " fed up OF hearing the expression".

This grumpy pedant salutes you.

I used to love it when I heard it from girls/women when they first saw me naked.

These days, I don't get quite the same "rise" from it.
