Just shows the huge gulf between the 2 divisions. Not sure if I want us to go up & have to spend £100 mil on players most have never heard of just to survive.

Shows you the gulf between the league Champions and playoff contenders a few weeks into preseason. I mean...we saw it with Tottenham last season. We aren't in a position to compete for the PL title. However, if we do go up, the goal isn't champions league places. The fact that we're battered by Chelsea in a preseason game is no reflection on how we would do week in and week out in the EPL if we were to get there next season.

But every club has a limit to the quality of player it can attract - and were a club without a large fan base and no great history for winning trophies, that is currently in the Championship and subject to FFP, in the process of trying to persuade a Uruguayan international striker worth upwards of £7M to join us.

Much as we'd all have hoped to do rather better, the fact is - we don't have to be anywhere near as good as Ch***ea to get out of our league. I don't see the point of having a dig at our Chairman over it.

This has been a game whereby they put out a good strong side,which will tell joka, the khans kline n co that stats are not always the awnser.So this might long term help the khans realise there responseibilty to keeping joka.

I don't think that was a dig at the Chairman, just an innocent remark suggesting that as he owns this club, and has any aspiration to take us another step in the right direction, it's clearly obvious to supporters we need reinforcements, and quality players in key positions, which is the bleeding obvious to the foot soldiers, but not too much to ask at this stage of proceedings.

It simply proves what we all blimmin know. We still need a decent spine. Three or four players needed who are good enough to step into the first team up the middle. It is no shock seeing our centre half pairing. Unless we are happy to take a step back and enjoy an average season.

What were Chelsea before the Russian brought them? A mid table club with a fair sized fan base. Much like man city. Fans are fickle and players are mercenaries.... money buys players and titles and than in turn brings bigger fan base. When the money stops then there may be an issue. FFP is not a problem if you get promoted like Middlesbrough did (I'm not saying that is the right way to go about it ).
