We want that new centre back within the next 24 hours , hopefully he can then play in the cup tie and bed himself in for the next league game. With our league position we cannot afford to play around waiting for prices to drop as the window comes to an end.

There will be a list of targets and contact will have been made - if we are serious about strengthening the squad then negotiations should be well on the way by now

Obviously, but to complain about no signings a few minutes after midnight seems a bit of a joke or silly.

In an ideal world we would get one or two signings over the line in time for a practice match against Oldham, so by Friday 4 Jan.

IMO it would be acceptable just to get a couple in by around 8 Jan, in time for a few days training before the Burnley game.

We need, for once, to get 50% of our business done by the middle of the window and recognise that the value and usefulness of any signing after that will be dramatically diminished, purely due to the timing, irrespective of how good the player (or his stats profile) is.

We only have 18 matches left and 25% of them will pass us by if we wait until deadline day.

There is a little poetic licence in some posts
However I hope we will have made significant sensible signings by 7th.
