Anguissa's Data Profile on 9th August 2018

Luiz Gustavo + Anguissa = Worldclass Midfield combination

Anguissa for Cameroon = A few Worldclass Midfield performances

Anyone Else + Anguissa = Unknown Performance

Any decent statistician cannot call that a no risk data profile (due to a "lack of statistical significant data" statistics jargon).

The Anguissa post also says the scouting reports were good, so we must blame the scouts too.

The statisticans know "Anguissa is brilliant with Luiz Gustavo" and that they don't have much data without Gustavo.

The Scouts needed to assess what Anguissa is like without Gustavo. Now we know and the scouts get an F- (so far)

But Southampton's Scouts, also deserve a Fail because they also wanted Anguissa and were offering him similar money.

The Cahill transfer it's not on as no more mention of it.

I wrote on friday that Babel would be the only signing this month. My source is a guy on Twitter (he told me about the Stefan Johansen signing before it happened).
If that is true, it is very disappointing. We will go down if we play Ream and Odoi.

No transfer news or rumors the last week. I hope he is wrong.

the nutflush

Nobody worth signing is going to come to a club in late Jan who are 7 points from safety.  Anyone who does will be coming up from the championship or similar to championship standard form overseas which would defeat the purpose of getting new players in... unless we are planning for life in the championship.

I don't mind financial planning to do the best we can playing "Ream and Odoi" this season, but I don't like the idea of planning to get automatic promotion with "Ream and Odoi" (they will only get us mid-table or playoffs at best).

I think we should buy next years Championship team now and if combined with our expected departures (Rico, Chambers, Seri, Sess, Babel, Schullre and Mitro) we may have a decent team.

Regarding Ream and Odoi getting us to playoffs at best in the Championship, well last time around they missed automatic promotion on the last day of the season. Actually, if you go by the games that Ream and Odoi started together at CB, we were the best team in the Championship by some margin. Now, I don't believe that our amazing form was only (or even mostly) down to them, but it is also unfair (to say the least) to not acknowledge their contribution.

He is a really good player, and not that old. However, has not played much at all, which is worrying. It is understandable given the competition for those spots at Juve, but nonetheless a bit worrying. Should be better than our current crop anyway.

Wayne bridge never got a look in when we signed him, and he was a great signing

Oh, I agree. And I didn't mean to sound too negative, just a reflection. I don't think there is any chance of us getting a good experienced CB that has had plenty of game time lately. Why would they sign for us in our current state? Either it is rejects from bigger clubs, or it has to be a gamble from the Championship or some lesser league. I'll go with experience, since I want us to try to stay up. If we get a player like Benatia that would be great.

Fulham look unlikely to sign Gary Cahill this month having reached stalemate in discussions with the centre-back, Sky Sports News understands.

I think we can probably add some of the following to the list of expected departures:

-Fabri (has talked to the press about coming here was a mistake, wants to leave)
-Fosu-Mensah, Vietto (loans)
-McDonald, Johansen (rumours about leaving)
-Anguissa (wages, FFP)

Also rumours about O'Riley going to Bundesliga.

And of course Kamara.

Then there's the situation at CB. I wouldn't mind Odoi at RB in the Championship but we really need to bring in two new CBs in addition to Mawson (assuming we can keep him but he left Swansea when they were relegated...).

This is of course a worst case scanario but still... We will probably need a MASSIVE re-build this summer if we're relegated. TK and his transfer team will have their greatest challenge yet. I think it's highly unrealistic to expect us to bounce straight back up. The main priority must be to avoid back-to-back relegations.

And would almost single handedly fail FFP for us ..  which is why Schurrle 100k pw... Seri 80k pw and Anguissa 65k pw will all have to go and more sadly Mitrovic who's on I think 80k pw

Isn't that  a surprise now.

FFC1987

To be fair, can anyone blame Cahil not coming? He'll find a longer term contract at a more settled club. Whats the best scenario he gets from joining us. Keeping us up and maybe a 2 year deal or much more likely, he comes to us, we still go down and hes off looking for a longer contract elsewhere albeit with a relegation tag on his CV. I believe the club worked effortlessly on this one but our current position just doesn't cut it.

I'm glad we have not given into his demands then. Last thing we need is another over 30's player on a heavy contract in the Championship just like last time.
