will parker be able to pick the side he wants - tc sess kmac (and the fans want) or will he be under pressure to pick the owners sons signings where available?

Parker needs to be given our support.  He did not pick the teams, he did not direct the tactics.  He coached what he was told to coach by 2 completely different tacticians.  Parker will have learned good and bad from Slav and Ranieri and has a huge amount of experience as a player at the top level.  Will he be any good, I don't know.    I am much happier about his appointment as caretaker manager than as a very highly payed over the top player and will give him a chance.  He certainly has an almost impossible start game wise, then again expectations will be very low so less pressure on him and the players.
Agree with this. I was not his greatest fan when he was playing, but he always played with faultless commitment. If you wanted someone to throw his body in front of the ball, he was your man.  I don't have a scoobies about his managerial talent, and to me it doesn't matter whether he has "experience" or not. As Woolly pointed out, everyone has to start at some stage. And as Fulhamstu has said, expectations are low. We don't expect to win any of the next 4 games, and after that Watford away, Everton at home and Bournemouth away are hardly easy. We would like, however, for some pride in our performance. Let's hope he can get the team to deliver that.

With due respect to Claudio, I am happier that Scott is now at the helm.

Even though the season is done and dusted for us, I've got a mini spring in my step tonight .

From BBC website - Former midfielder Parker will become Fulham's sixth manager in 56 Premier League games after Martin Jol, Rene Meulensteen, Felix Magath, Jokanovic and Ranieri. - That is 9.33 games per manager!!

how quickly we forget Kit Symons. That's a shocking stat for stat man.

Symons never managed in the PL

Ah of course. I take it back.

" but be assured he is not solely to blame for the position we are in today"

So who else is? Any candidates come to mind ?Any sanctions to be taken against them ? Any change in policy  and modus operandi ?

Do please tell

Tony Khan!

That's exactly who I had in mind Twig and hoped that was who he was referring to .If it wasn't , and it was a dig at Joka ,then it is pathetic and makes me feel worse of our owner ( who I hold in high regard bar his continued support of his son as DOF)

No experience as a manager, has been an assistant to the two who were dismissed. This just has to be a success!

And you were expecting what from Claudio for the rest of the season?

Maybe this way Ryan Sess won't be looking to leave in the off season.

Now maybe the owners can do actual research and find a qualified long term replacement instead of just looking at the amount of teams a manager has been in charge of.

Noone had more experience than Claudio and he wasn't good at managing these players.    At least noone has any expectations from Scott.

No dig at Slav needed.

I am delighted at this news.  obviously Parker is not going to save us from relegation, only a fool would expect that.  However he has a chance to re-engage the likes of the Sess brothers, TC, Mitro etc.  With little pressure it is a chance to; clear the air, select sensible teams and formations, regenerate a bit of passion and restore some pride.  I was intending to give our defeat against Chelsea a miss but now I plan to attend and support the manager and his team.

This is one of the better post I've read in a month.

Agreed.

Edit:
We know the defense is crap...with crap players expected to try and defend against quality attacking premiere league sides.

I hope Scott picked up enough of Slav's offensive coaching style to get the players playing attractive football again.

Even if it results in 1-4 losses to the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea (short term) I would like to see some type of team identity reinstalled into Fulham's attack.

Have I got it wrong or is their a dig at Slav there as well.

I thought the same thing.

You can't tell.. the reality is the defence was atrocious and was poorly reinforced in the summer. We played in the premiership with a championship defence.. and I'm of the belief part of that was because Tony khan's biases towards the likes of ream and Odoi. They were never going to be good enough. Hopefully shahid can take a grown up decision and let Tony play around with his passion for wrestling.

A bit out of topic, but I am tired to read about our "championship level defenders". They are not the best defenders in the world, but definitely not the worst ones either. If the team is built correctly and has a plan and a strategy, then the individual parts of the team look good as well. If not....

I was too lazy/tired to look at more games, but Bournemouth (a team/club that has been mentioned as a good example to follow by a lot of people on here numerous times) started the first game of the season with 3 defenders that were playing with them in the Championship and 2 of them were in the team when in League 1. Why would they be better than Fulham's defenders? Or does anyone that hear the names Steve Cook, Charlie Daniels and Adam Smith automatically thinks: "definitely Premier League quality defenders"?

Never wanted Parker back let alone in charge. But we are where are and I'll support him as caretaker, he's going to need it with those first four games.

I think we should do what Huddersfield did. Give Parker 1 or 2 games as caretaker, while at the same time get a new manager in - he can take over for the last games of the season.

The digs at his son I think.

Obviously - it's too bad he won't fire his son. Another 100m won't fix the problem either.

So it's all moot point really even if we bring in the special one if we won't find someone who will get players into the club that are up to the standard.

I love the line "If Scott can answer that challenge, and our players respond to the opportunity, perhaps victories will follow in the months ahead" - so we are hoping to win a game before the end of the season -  :wow:

"Hope and Prayer are not business strategies".

How long before you posters that think Parker is part of the problems on his back half time v Chelsea , wouldn't surprise me at all.
Support Scotty and the boys 100% for the full game!!

grandad

I will fully support Parker, unless he plays Seri & puts Cairney wide right.

Have not been around much.  Personal reasons and all that.  Some interesting things for all to think about when it comes to Scotty.  For me we need to get behind him and give him all of our support.  I think it's obvious has a passion for coaching and wants to be the gaffer of a successful club.

Good quote from Scotty back in January 2016;   "My drive and passion [is to be out there, to try to coach a team, to influence a side and give them something we can be proud of,"

Some interesting stats from when Scotty returned to Spurs in June 2017 for the 2017/2018 as the U18 academy coach.

Played   Won   Drawn   Lost   GF    GA   GD   Points
22            10      4             8   58   39    19     34

That Season Parker's team started out slow but by January 2018 hit their stride and did quite nicely.  They even gave some good thrashing to the like of Reading (4-0), Aston Villa (5-0) and best of all Arsenal (9-0) who had beaten the Spurs U18's that November 6-0.

My point is this, loads of fans have been calling out for a change and to give someone new a chance rather then sticking with the same old names that drawn over and over from the EPL managerial merry go around.  I for one am tired of just seeing the same old tired names pulled out of the hat and welcome the chance for a possible new (English might I add) top flight manager.

In the end all I'm saying is I hope all Fulham fans can give the lad a chance.  Support him and the team and let's see what they can do for the remainder of the season.
I for one hope he succeeds and stays with us through next season.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

Burt

Glad the change has been made. We were going nowhere with Claudio. We still may be heading back down, but hopefully with a bit more fight and style than we've been seeing recently.

Good luck Scott! Behind you all the way.

The remaining fixtures...

Chelsea
Leicester
Liverpool
Man City
Watford
Everton
Cardiff
Wolves
Newcastle

That would be tough for an experienced manager.

I'm not expecting any wins from Scott over the next two months, but I expect rotations to change...style of football to be attractive...

THAT'S ALL.   It's about the Championship next season.

Wins over Cardiff, Leicester or Newcastle would be nice...but after what we've experienced the last two months...I'm not expecting the defense to actually start knowing how to play together.   Not at all.

Parker taking over for the rest of the season, Fulhamben won't be happy.
I've got the php frantically trying to reconvert the burning effigys back into Parker ones. They only converted from Parker ones to raneri ones last month. We are not amused. If ever there was a Jonah of the footballing world, then Parker is it with fulham.
