Why is Tom Cairney not good enough for rubbish Scotland?

Scotland are rubbish, that is clearly a fact.ย  One has seen better football played on Hackney Marshes than what the kilt-wearers offer today.ย  They have re-employed a failed manager in the brainless Alex McLeish who in his asinine reasoning has deemed Fulham's Tom Cairney unworthy of place among that bunch of "hoofers".

McLeish is a manager who likes to play "hoof and hope" football, so clearly a cultured, intelligent playmaker like Cairney is not in his grand (sic) scheme.ย  Yet TC on his worst day is far better than all those one has witnessed in the current squad.

My only regret is that Cairney made a foolhardy decision to opt for a hopeless country like Scotland and instead should have held out for a more lucrative international career with England, as Irishman Declan Rice and Jamaican Raheem Sterling have both decided, even though the former is barely likely to feature in England's plans; that regardless as it was not in Rice's primary thinking.

Cairney's game obviously doesn't suit theย  system the Scotland manager wants to play, simple as that.

Perhaps they would have picked him if he were able to pass with either foot.

At least he can pass it with one foot, which is seemingly an improvement over most other players in that team.

He might be relieved not to have been picked at the moment.

As a Scot, a/ I am embarrassed but b/ I follow what is going on and TC pulled out to nurse a niggling injury apparently, Not McLiesh decision.ย  Agree with the comments about Mcliesh, he is a dinosaur. When he did play Tom, he put him out of position, wide right. He has no pace and his central role is desperately needed in my opinion.ย  As stated, at least he will not return injured.

I would struggle at the moment to select any of our players for my local pub team!

I thought the Dog & Bone 4th XI had been expunged from your local League for indulging in too much Gin on the touchline.

From what I've seen of Tom this season, I shouldn't think San Marino would have picked him if allegeable.
Or our Girlies International side.๐Ÿ˜

Then you've seen a different TC than me. Whenever he has played in central midfield (not often enough) he has looked our best player.

Yes, when Tom plays for Fulham, they are so much better. He has been excellent, especially since Ramieri got the boot.

Would you call the men's team a "bossiest" international side? Thought not. So why the patronising use of girly?

You don't realise how spot on this is.

"Gotta play the hot hand". The in form player. Yes TC is injured on and off, but anyone knows from playing, when you're hot you're hot and when your not your not. Uncertainty breeds contempt. Confidence breeds greatness. Tom and Kmac are stuck in purgatory.

Also, as alluded to here, the synergy between gaffer and player/structure isn't there so... it is what it is.
