Tottenham's Move For Sessegnon Now Complicated As Newcastle Interested In

Tottenham Hotpsur's move to secure the services of Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon before the close of the transfer window has become complicated.

Spurs were ready to include Nigerian midfielder Josh Onomah as a makeweight in the deal taking Sessegnon to new White Hart Lane but there is a new twist.

Lilywhite_Rose has informed allnigeriasoccer.com that Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Onomah from under the noses of Fulham and this has complicated the swap deal.

The Cottagers still maintain an interest in the central midfielder and are pushing to sign him too.

Onomah has played under Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce at two different clubs, during his loan spells at Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.

The 22-year-old has been declared surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino and did not take part in any of the pre-season games played by Tottenham's first team.

Report: Nottingham Forest bid for Levante ace Chema Rodriguez

Championship promotion chasers Nottingham Forest are still allegedly targeting new signings, including La Liga defender Chema Rodriguez.

Nottingham Forest have made an offer to sign Levante defender Chema Rodriguez, according to Cadena Ser.

It has been another summer of change at the City Ground with a new manager and eight new players. But with the transfer deadline still 24 hours away, there is time for Forest to make a couple of further additions.

Le10 Sport claims that Caen goalkeeper Brice Samba and Bordeaux striker Alexandre Mendy could be on their way to the banks of the Trent while reports today have linked Forest with a talented centre-half too.

A 27-year-old who played for Atletico Madrid in his youth, Chema impressed as Levante avoided relegation from La Liga last season.

Ligue 1 newcomers Brest are interested but Cadena Ser claims that Nottingham Forest's offer is far greater than their French counterparts. And, after signing Ruben Vezo and Oscar Duarte, Levante are prepared to let Chema go.

El Desmarque claimed earlier in the summer that Chema was keen to join Fulham, who had expressed an interest in luring the Spaniard to Craven Cottage.

Fulham conceded 81 goals in the Premier League last season and they looked suspect again in their shock 1-0 defeat in Saturday's Championship opener against Wigan Athletic. So with Forest making their move, The Cottagers must respond before it's too late.

Report: Derby and Fulham want £12m Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy

Murphy is reportedly leaving Newcastle United with four Championship clubs keen: Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield and Derby.

Jacob Murphy is expected to leave Newcastle United on loan with Derby County, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town all queuing up to sign the winger, according to The Sun (7 August, page 50).

Big things were expected when Murphy, an England U21 international and a boyhood Magpies fan, moved to St James' Park from Norwich City in a £12 million deal two years ago.

But maybe the Premier League came too soon for a player who looked a cut above the division below alongside his twin brother Josh.

Murphy has just one goal and one assist in 31 top flight appearances so far and spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom. With Newcastle manager Steve Bruce bringing in Allan Saint-Maximin from Nice, it looks like the 24-year-old has now slipped even further down the pecking order.

So a return to the Championship, if only for 12 months, could be exactly what Murphy needs to kick-start his career.

The Sun claims that Derby, Fulham, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday are all interested in a jet-heeled forward who provided nine goals and six assists in his final Championship campaign in Norwich colours.

It remains to be seen who is at the front of the queue but Derby, in particular, could be a wonderful opportunity with Phillip Cocu and Wayne Rooney imparting knowledge and experience on the training pitch.

Riverside Stand Work Update

Fulham Football Club looks forward to welcoming supporters back to Craven Cottage this season and ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash with Blackburn this Saturday, we can provide an update on the Riverside Stand works taking place.

Following the installation of the constructor's compound in Bishops Park at the end of June there have been changes that you will notice. The compound itself is hoarded off at a section of Bishops Park and prior to its installation ground protection was laid, along with protection of trees in the vicinity. This compound, starting adjacent to the Putney End wall, occupies an area of 5500 m2 within Fielders Meadow.

The Riverside Stand has already undertaken a soft strip of any non-structural elements. This is an essential part of the preparation that is required prior to demolition. As a consequence, you will notice seating has been removed from the stand along with the fixtures and furnishing in the lounges.

In addition, a temporary gantry has been built pitchside, adjacent to the current shell that remains from the stand. This gantry will be used for media purposes and by the analysis teams of the home and away sides. In order to separate the works taking place inside the stadium bowl, hoarding has been installed and painted at both the Hammersmith & Putney End.

Recent work has included the removal of the hospitality boxes in the corner of the Putney End which have been taken down in the past week.

Additionally, a new disabled deck has been installed in the Putney end along with a temporary first aid room, which is located behind the stand.

Those observing the works from the Putney bank will notice a jacked-up barge in place on the river. This barge is adorned with a crane and has been thoroughly tested, ready to commence piling.  On Tuesday, the piling rig, the first of its kind in the country, arrived by barge. A team will test and commission the 70 tonne machine. It was transferred onto the jacked-up platform on Wednesday with piling (some piles up to 50m deep) set to commence imminently.

Saturday's fixture v Blackburn Rovers will also see the players from both sides lining up in front of the Johnny Haynes stand before the match.

We will be providing regular updates on the works during the season however, during this time, the overall capacity at Craven Cottage is reduced to three stands being in operation and away areas now limited to Blocks P5 & P6 within the Putney End.

Supporters are reminded that whilst three sides of the ground will be in operation during the Riverside Stand works, the Putney End will have dedicated blocks for home and away supporters. There is no longer a mixed/neutral section within the Putney End seating blocks.

Whilst the Putney End concourse area will be mixed, blocks P1, P2, P3 & P4 are designated home seating areas only. P5 & P6 is the designated away area.

There will be an appropriate security presence in the Putney End for each game to manage Home and Away Fans sharing facilities in the concourse area. This will be based upon consultation between the club, police and relevant local authorities.

Following this consultation, the Club will be enforcing sale restrictions. This also means that Season Ticket Holders and Members purchasing tickets for others will still be possible, however, the purchaser is responsible for these tickets and must ensure that seats occupied in the home seating areas are by Fulham supporters.

There should not be any away supporters in any of the home seating areas inside the ground. Away supporters identified in home areas will be ejected.

Fulham Lodge Enquiry For Everton Star

Fulham have lodged an enquiry to probe the possibility of signing Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic late in the transfer window, according to the Sun.

The Cottagers signed Harry Arter from Bournemouth earlier this week, but are in the market for midfielders ahead of Thursday's Championship transfer deadline.

They have been looking at a number of options and are claimed to have made an initial move to bring in one more body to their midfield before the window slams shut.

The Championship club have put in an enquiry with Everton to discuss the possibility of taking Besic to Craven Cottage this summer.

The Bosnian midfielder spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough and appears to have no future at Everton going forward.

The Merseyside club could look to ship him out and could agree to another loan deal.

Fulham have come forward but the discussions are still at an early stage and there are no guarantees that a deal could be stuck.

Time is running out due to the early closing Championship transfer window, and the Cottagers will have to move fast if they are  interested in getting a deal done for the midfielder.

Fulham move for Premier League midfielder

Fulham have made an enquiry to Everton about the possible signing of midfielder Muhamed Besic, Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported.

Besic spent last the last season and a half on loan in the Championship with Middlesbrough, making 56 appearances and scoring three times in all competitions, and it has previously been reported that Everton are willing to let the Croatian international leave Goodison Park this summer either cheaply or on on loan.

Fulham now appear to have moved to take advantage of that, with Nixon reporting that the London based club are interested in the midfielder, despite the recent loan signing of fellow centre midfielder Harry Arter from Bournemouth.

There are two years remaining on Besic's current contract at Everton, tying him to Goodison Park until the summer of 2021.

Since moving to the Merseyside club from Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros for a fee reported to be worth around £4million, Besic has made 56 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side.

The Verdict

I could see this being a good signing for Fulham.

Besic has been a solid midfielder for Middlesbrough during his time on loan there, so there should be no doubts about his ability to compete in the Championship.

With the midfielder apparently available on the cheap, you can also see why this could prove to be a smart move financially for Fulham, due to the reduced risk of them losing out if the move fails to work out.

You do however wonder whether this is the sort of move Fulham should be prioritising right now, given they have already brought in Harry Arter to cover that central midfield position, and the club are yet to bring in any recruits to bolster a defence that arguably looks short on numbers.

Report: Ryan Sessegnon refusing to speak to other clubs, desperate to join Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are now said to be 'expecting' Ryan Sessegnon to sign from Fulham before Thursday.

According to the Daily Mirror, Ryan Sessegnon is refusing to even speak to other clubs such is his desire to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham are working on a number of deals as deadline day draws closer, and it is Sessegnon who they appear to be closest to signing.

The Fulham youngster has been on Mauricio Pochettino's wishlist for the entirety of the summer so far, and is thought to be massively keen on joining Tottenham.

Sessegnon has reportedly not even entered discussions with other sides who have tried to buy him this summer, as he is desperate for a move to White Hart Lane to materialise.

The London Evening Standard have suggested that Fulham wanted £40 million for Sessegnon, which would proving to be the stumbling block in negotiations.

However, it seems that a compromise may have been reached, as Tottenham are now 'expecting' Sessegnon to arrive before Thursday, the Mirror suggest.

If Sessegnon does join Spurs he is likely to compete with Danny Rose and Ben Davies for a spot at left-back, although is also comfortable playing in more advanced areas of the pitch.

Striker pursued by QPR and Fulham is on his way to West London – to join Brentford

Brentford are poised to complete the signing of Iran forward Saman Ghoddos.

QPR and Fulham both pursued Ghoddos last year prior to his move from Swedish side Östersunds FK to French club Amiens, who are now set to sell him.

English clubs have continued to show an interest and Ghoddos now looks set to join Brentford as a replacement for Neal Maupay, who has left for Brighton in a £20m deal.

Ghoddos is expected to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Griffin Park.

QPR were frustrated in their attempts to sign him but have been able to bring in strikers in this window, signing Jordan Hugill and Jan Mlakar on loan from West Ham and Brighton respectively.

Their focus now is on trying to agree a deal for Aberdeen's Scotland defender Scott McKenna.

McKenna has handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move south of the border.

The request has been rejected and manager Derek McInnes recently insisted that QPR needed to cough up more money in order to land him.

The R's had a £3m bid turned down and were also knocked back after submitting a revised offer.

"There was a fresh offer. I don't know if there was a written offer from Nottingham Forest but there certainly was from QPR on Friday – but clearly it was not enough," McInnes told the Daily Record last week.

"It was a slight increase and it was structured in a certain way but it was not enough for the club to accept.

"It's up to the buying club to make my chairman think differently but as it stands Scott will remain with us."

Report: Sheffield Wednesday enter Michael Hector talks as Fulham lurk

Championship duo Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing £4m Michael Hector from Premier League Chelsea.

Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign Michael Hector on a permanent deal but Fulham are also interested in the Chelsea defender, according to the Mail.

Just a week ago, Wednesday fans would have been very worried about the club's trajectory heading into what looked set to be a testing 2019/20 campaign. They lost their manager, Steve Bruce walking out to join Newcastle with barely a second glance, and not a single penny had been spent on new signings.

But suddenly, things are looking up at Hillsborough. It is amazing what a couple of days can do.

A 3-1 opening day win against Reading capped a performance full of verge and quality, proving once and for all that there's life after Bruce. And, according to The Mail, Wednesday have now entered talks about a permanent deal for Hector.

Chelsea's £4 million forgotten man was a huge hit at Hillsborough last season, shining in 37 Championship appearances. His return would not only be a marquee signing for a club who spent much of the summer under a transfer embargo, it would be a major boost for Sheffield Wednesday's promotion hopes.

The Mail claims that Chelsea's West London neighbours Fulham are interested too and, as anyone who watched The Cottagers over the last 12 months will tell you, a quality centre-half is a must.

Fulham conceded 81 goals en route to relegation last season and they were their own worst enemies again in Saturday's shock defeat to Wigan. Hector would provide experience and strength at the back – two attributes The Cottagers are crying out for.

2 pros and 2 cons of Mo Besic's potential move to Fulham

Mo Besic could reportedly return to the Championship this summer with a move to Fulham on the horizon, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has had two spells on loan to Middlesbrough, where he made a total of 54 appearances under Tony Pulis.

Fulham are now looking at him to bolster their midfield options after the loan departure's of Andre-Frank Anguissa to Villarreal CF and Jean Michael Seri to Galatasaray.

The Whites reached a one-year loan agreement with AFC Bournemouth to sign Harry Arter.

Fulham will hope Besic provides greater quality to their squad after their shock defeat to Barnsley on the opening weekend. As so, there are positive and negative elements to their potential new signing.

Pro: Championship experience

From his two Championship loan spells to Middlesbrough, the 26-year-old will have the experience to implement his presence on the league. Both of these terms in the North-East, Besic was a influential figure on the pitch. In his 18-month Middlesbrough career, he contributed defensively with an average of 1.8 tackles a game, while also being involved in the attack where he averaged 1.4 key passes per game.

Besic impresses statistically with a pass success rate of 86.8%, despite playing more than three-long balls as a part of Pulis' philosophy. His excellent successful pass rate will be a positive element for Scott Parker to consider if he was to secure his signature.

Pro: Low-risk financial risk

After the disaster of Fulham's return to the Premier League, they would have examined the financial position they found themselves in. Their £100m gamble backfired and lower risk transfers will need to be organised so they do not break FFP regulations.

If it is true that Everton value Besic at £5m, it will be a lower risk transfer for a player that could have an important role in their season. In addition, supplying extra midfield quality and competition to challenge Kevin McDonald's and Stefan Johansson's positions in the team will be crucial to maintaining a positive combative environment at Craven Cottage.

Con: Defenders?

Though, the main confusion surrounding this transfer is: why is strengthening the defence not their priority? It is clear Fulham do not have a defence to propel them to automatic promotion. Continuing with the core defence which conceded a mammoth amount of league goals last season shows naivety

Starting Denis Odoi – a back-up centre-back – at right-back, over an established right-back in Cyrus Christie should be an immediate sign that improvements must be made. If Parker plans to implement Steven Sessegnon slowly over the course of the season, it could back-fire in the long-run. They will fail to pick-up the number of points in the early stages of the season and promotion will be in the balance.

A return to the Premier League hinges on whether Fulham quickly alter their priorities.

Con: Too great of midfield depth

While competition within a squad has proven to be a positive blend to increase performances, having too many midfielders could do more harm than good.

The Whites have seven established defensive or central midfielders within their squad and adding one more could be unnecessary – especially when other areas in the team need prioritising instead.

Fans' jury: Should Man City loanee make Rovers debut at Fulham?

We asked our Rovers fans jury: Would you throw Tosin Adarabioyo straight in for this weekend's game at Fulham?

I MIGHT be very tempted. He may be young, raw and inexperienced but could he do any worse than our current crop of "defenders"?

It beggars belief that we are still basically playing the same back four who regularly disgraced themselves last season. Players who don't like tackling or heading a ball and seem incapable of man marking the opposition.

Why oh why do we keep buying midfielders when we have a terrible goals against record?

Like thousands of others I think the situation is self-evident and needs urgent attention.

Paul Yates

IT WAS frustrating to see last seasons issues unresolved last weekend so the idea of throwing Adarabioyo isn't a bad one.

With that being said, considering he hasn't had a pre-season I think it would be a risk. Despite our defensive frailties it's important that we have players that are match fit.

Fulham will be desperate to amend their loss in the opening weekend, so a more experienced side may be beneficial.

Either way I trust Mowbray's judgement and have confidence in any team he selects.

Tom Schofield

ONE game in, it's nothing to get excited about but it is concerning that the problems that hampered us last year have not been addressed.

Charlie Mulgrew seemed behind the pace of the game, Elliot Bennett was only a temporary right back, Amari'i Bell lacked in conviction and Darragh Lenihan only excelled when he led the back line.

Defensively, it has been a very disappointing summer and I fear that too much hope was put into the arrival of Patrick Bauer with limited contingency plans.

Tosin Adarabioyo is a positive addition but not enough to tackle our whole-scale defensive issues which spreads across our back four.

Still, as our only other viable central defensive option, I would play him, if for nothing more than to get the best out of Lenihan who on our day is our best defender.

Tottenham closing on Ryan Sessegnon transfer as Fulham get Spurs man in return

Tottenham are willing to cough up £25million plus midfielder Josh Onomah for Sessegnon's services

Tottenham are closing in on a £25m deadline day deal for Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been keen to sign the Fulham left back all summer and the clubs are finally close to agreement.

Sessegnon, 19, has one year left on his deal and was in big demand but has been keen to move to Spurs from the outset.

Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah is likely to move in the opposite direction.

The 22-year-old midfielder is yet to make a Premier League start for Spurs after graduating through the ranks.

However, he has featured 32 times for the north London club in all competitions and spent time out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa.

Report: Fulham and QPR want Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis

Aston Villa have allegedly made a decision on Davis's future with Championship clubs Fulham, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City keen.

Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday were all interested in signing Keinan Davis but Aston Villa are set to keep hold of the young striker, according to the Birmingham Mail.

A lot has changed since Davis was leading the line in claret and blue at the start of the 2017/18 season. Back then, the youngster was battling for a place alongside Gabby Agbolahor and Scott Hogan; now he has £22 million Wesley Moraes for competition.

With Villa spending big on the Brazilian and scouring the market for another marquee striker before Thursday's transfer deadline, there is no obvious place for Davis in Dean Smith's plans ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

But, according to the Birmingham Mail, Smith wants to keep Davis around and feels he can make an impact off the bench.

Blessed with real physical strength and excellent hold-up play, the 21-year-old can certainly help to see out a game and provide an energetic out-ball if Villa are hanging on to a narrow lead.

This will disappoint clubs like QPR, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City, who were all interested in landing the Stevenage-born 21-year-old on loan.

But the raw facts are these; in one year's time, Davis will be out of contract. Fail in the Premier League and his Aston Villa career could be over. Thrive, and the sky is the limit for him in claret and blue.

Harry Arter cites 'family reasons' as a key factor behind Fulham loan switch

HARRY Arter says "family reasons" played a big part in his decision to join Fulham.

The midfielder signed a season-long loan deal with the Cottagers on Tuesday, in a move which could become permanent next summer.

And for London-born Arter, he admits the lure of a switch to the capital was tempting, particularly joining Fulham where his brother-in-law Scott Parker is manager.

He told FFCtv: "For me for obvious reasons with my family it was an easy option when it came to moving to Fulham, an easy decision.

"With all my family involved in the club it would be nice to be successful, for Scott and for myself. My little girl lives up here so it's a great move for me for family reasons.

"I've always had a desire to play for a club in London. Even since Scott signed here five or six years ago, I've always come and watched Fulham and it's great to be part of the club."

He added: "The manager really wanted me at the club. I think from the owner down to all the staff, it's clear that the target is to get promoted this year.

"It's a challenge that I want to be part of and I'm really looking forward to it."

Man Utd told Moussa Dembele transfer won't happen because he's too ambitious

Man United have been linked with a move for the former Fulham striker but he's got greater ambitious

Moussa Dembele won't be signing for Manchester United this summer because he has ambitions he wants to fulfill at Lyon.

That's according to the club's president Jean-Michel Aulas, who says the French striker isn't motivated by the money he can earn at Old Trafford.

Dembele has been on United's radar all summer after being identified as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Red Devils have so far been unable to sell the Belgium international forward, but look set to miss out on former Fulham and Celtic star Dembele regardless.

"Moussa Dembele will not leave," Aulas told Le Parisien. "The model was made for him.

"We recruited according to him. He becomes center number one, which he was not totally last season. It is not a question of money, it is a question of ambition."

Dembele made 42 appearances in all competitions for Lyon last season, netting 18 times.

He is set to have more responsibility placed on his shoulders this campaign, and will lead the French club's line, according to Aulas.

Manchester United meanwhile are linked with Juventus ' Paulo Dybala as an alternative to the young Frenchman.

Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham development as £25m deadline day transfer planned

TOTTENHAM are on the cusp of signing Fulham ace Ryan Sessegnon.

The north Londoners have been chasing the versatile winger all summer and look set to finally get their man.

Sessegnon racked up 35 Premier League appearances for the Whites last season.

But he struggled to make an impact as his side were relegated back to the Championship.

The Mirror says a £25m fee has been agreed and Josh Onomah will head to Craven Cottage as part of the deal.

Onomah, 22, is highly regarded but has been unable to break into first-team contention at Spurs.

He played 14 games on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season and spent the 2017/18 campaign at Aston Villa.

Former QPR boss Ian Holloway told Starsport last week that Sessegnon is far better off staying put.

"The boy is exceptional, he really is," Holloway said.

"I want to see him play, I want to see him learn - I want him to stay where he is and learn from his new manager in Scott Parker.

"What Scott can't teach him isn't worth knowing. Tottenham will come calling again. Why does he need to move now?

"Will he get in Tottenham's team straight away? Probably not. He should stay where he is and earn his stripes.

"There's some similarities with Gareth Bale - and he was bought very early wasn't he.

"He was sold from Southampton [to Tottenham] and it's all about carrying that weight of expectation."

Sessegnon might not be Spurs' only transfer business before the window closes.

Josh Onomah spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday (Pic: GETTY)

Pochettino has a long-standing interest in Real Betis ace Giovani Lo Celso but has been unable to get a deal over the line.

Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes is another potential option.

Fernandes was one of the most impressive attackers in Europe last season.

He notched an impressive 20 league goals and registered 13 assists.

The Portugal international has been linked with Manchester United, but Starsport understands a deal is highly unlikely.

Scott Parker faces Fulham dilemma as he tries to accommodate new signing: The verdict

This article is part of Football League World's 'The Verdict' series, which provides personal opinions from the FLW writers regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...

Fulham manager Scott Parker has kept it in the family with the addition of  Bournemouth midfielder and Parker's brother-in-law Harry Arter, on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, in a deal that could become permanent next summer, as confirmed on the club website.

But will the arrival of Arter call into question the first-team opportunities for current Cottagers midfielder Kevin McDonald?

Do you expect Arter to replace McDonald in the Fulham starting XI?

We discuss........

Chris Gallagher

"I'm pretty sure that he will start but it doesn't have to be ahead of McDonald.

"The former Wolves man sits in front of the back four and it's his job to build play with clever passing and he needs to position himself well to prevent counter attacks.

"That's not really where Arter excels, with the Ireland international better as a box-to-box midfielder, so I could see him getting the nod ahead of Stefan Johansen.

"The good thing for Scott Parker is that those three midfielders are all versatile in that they can do different roles if needed. But, there's no doubt that Arter has made the move to play regularly and after the midfield struggled at Barnsley on Saturday I think he will be thrown straight into the XI this weekend."

Alfie Burns

"I'm not entirely sure, he will have come to play, but we know how good the balance of McDonald, Stefan Johansen and Tom Cairney can be in the midfield.

"Arter has a lot of traits that will mean he's a success at Fulham – mainly his experience – but I'm not sure I'd class him as a guaranteed starter.

"McDonald did an excellent job shielding the defence in the Championship before, with Johansen and Cairney given more of a license to support the attack.

"I can see Parker sticking with that as Fulham try to get going this season; the trio know each other's game, which is always a plus."

Toby Wilding

"I think he will do.

"Arter was a player who stood out during his time at Bournemouth, and given the lack of expectation there was around the Cherries when they first stepped into the Premier League, that is an indication of the size of the contribution made by the midfielder at the south coast club.

"You therefore imagine that there will be an expectation on Arter to make that same sort of impact during his time at Craven Cottage, and that is something that can only happen if Arter is on the pitch, which obviously means that someone else will have to drop out.

"With the likes of Tom Cairney, Anthony Knockaert and Ivan Cavaleiro all surely set to play big roles in Fulham's push for promotion this season – having previously done so either for the Cottagers or other clubs – it does make McDonald one of the more obvious choices to drop out of the Fulham midfield in order to make way for Arter."

Report: Tottenham expect to sign Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon on deadline day

Spurs have sought to bring Sessegnon to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a while now.

Tottenham Hotspur are expecting to complete the signing of Fulham full-back and long-time target Ryan Sessegnon on Thursday, according to Sky Sports News.

The 19-year-old is believed to have been sought after by Spurs for a while now and if the most recent reports are true, the saga is set to come to an end on transfer deadline day.

Sky Sports News claims that all parties are believed to be hopeful that a deal can finally be concluded for the exciting Englishman, though no fee has been quoted in the aforementioned report.

The London Evening Standard previously suggested that Fulham wanted £40million for Sessegnon, which appeared to be a big stumbling block in negotiations.

That same report claimed that Tottenham were hoping to strike a £25million deal and a later report by The Independent suggests that the latter value was indeed the one agreed.

Sessegnon enjoyed a wonderful breakthrough season at Fulham in 2017-18 as the Cottagers surged into the Championship's top six and triumphed in the playoffs.

Despite a tough 2018-19 season for the West Londoners, the teenager nonetheless did well, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 35 appearances.

Sessegnon subsequently featured for England Under-21s during this summer's European Championships and his stock looks set to continue rising ever higher.

Fulham beating the transfer deadline to sign this Leicester star is an absolute no-brainer

Why Fulham should sign Daniel Amartey before the deadline

According to a report in Leicester Mercury, Leicester City's Daniel Amartey is being linked with a move away from the club before the transfer window deadline.

Among the clubs interested, Championship side Fulham are in the race for the player while newly-promoted Sheffield United are also keen on signing him. (h/t Leicester Mercury)

As per the report, the Cottagers have already made an enquiry about a possible move for the player, who can play in the midfield and the defence with great control. (h/t (h/t Leicester Mercury)

Amartey arrived at the King Power Stadium back in the summer of 2016 but he hasn't been able to really nail his place down as one of the first-choice players.

Here's why it would be good for him and for Fulham to join hands for this season and beyond:

Amartey would be a versatile addition to the team
Daniel Amartey, as mentioned above, is a versatile player and can play in the midfield and the defence. If we look at it in detail, he is capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, a right-back and as a centre-back.

The 24-year-old hasn't been a regular part of the Leicester team since arriving in 2016 but his flexibility was on display whenever given the opportunity.

n terms of attributes, Amartey is a physically strong player on/off the ball and reads the game well to defend. His pace is good enough to make runs up and down the field while he is also a good passer of the ball.

If Fulham manage to sign him before Thursday's deadline, they would succeed at solidifying a back-line that was prone to conceding goals at will last season.

Conclusion
Thus, it has to be said that the Cottagers would benefit a lot from having Daniel Amartey in their squad. From the player's point of view, it is possible for him to receive more game time at Craven Cottage as compared to the King Power Stadium.
