Seen a lot of Cup shocks over the years , League 1/2 sides beating Premier sides , almost always lumping it forward getting in behind and scoring. Do Fulham players/management really think they are going to play through a top Euro team ???

charlieFFC

apparently so. It makes for embarrassing viewing quite frankly.

When you try to play like Man City against Man City it gives a stark comparison of how poor we actually are.

DucatiFFC

Just would like to add that when you are the underdog you do not try and beat the opposition at their own game. Absolutely no variety displayed today, same old, same old, even after going a man down continued in same vein as though just going through the motions.

Sgt Fulham

We stopped doing cup upsets in 2010. As has been said, we try and beat superior teams at their own game and it shows.

Good point.
Thought some players looked frightened at times as well...

fulhamben

How can we lump it forward when we don't have a single striker on the pitch. What would be the point
CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.

DucatiFFC

Nothing to do with having strikers on the pitch, more to do with having players in the opposition half, which from my view seemed to be a no-go area.

We don't ever seem to play with any heart .... look at Shrewsbury tonight

They played with passion, belief and skill we just don't have.

Robbie

The issue is for Shrewsbury it is a once in multi year opportunity to make a lot of cash (which they now have).
Our big opportunity is the PL ... why would we put all our efforts into the FAC ?

Why not, Fulham are suppose to be professional, it is a competition and we are suppose to compete. Fulham should learn from Shrewsbury's honest commitment, because it creates team spirit and respect for one another as well as increases morale. Winning becomes a habit as does losing.  Whereas Fulham always seem to be frightened of their own shadows, that is why we are
often losers. I hope Fulham and not just the players watched the Shrewsbury game, they might just learn something. But then you cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

Not easy to compete when your Captain gets needlessly sent off against the Premier League champions after 6 minutes.

No it is not easy, but strength does not come from winning, your troubles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.

I agree.

Denver Fulham

We were missing four of our best attacking players and went down 1-0 and a man down inside 7 mins, and it was still only 2-0 with 20 minutes left, and people on here are complaining that we showed a lack of heart? They're way better than we are, even with some second-teamers in the lineup. We tried to play, even with 10 men, and defended quite well when we didn't pass them the ball 25 yards from our own goal. What more did you all want from this given what happened with Ream?

Jim©

Entirely agree with that Denver. Incredible over reaction to a result that was almost done prior to kick off.
When the opposition has over £400m worth of players on the pitch, away from home and you have 10 men, i thought it was worthy of praise not the incredible back lash that we've seen on here and TIFF.

Spot on. Given the circumstances I thought the team did well.

Yes it is hard to see , after that disasterous start , how we could have come away with anything better, However we were making similar mistakes to those we usually make due to our tactics but these were magnified by the quality of the opposition and  hopefully Parker can now clearly see that tactical changes are needed to suit our players abilities.

Parker has one hell of a job this week if he is to motivate the team sufficiently to enable us to score the goals that will be needed to pick up three points on Saturday.
