Bottled it

Brentford bottled it - they could have gone up with a win.

Forest bottled it - they could have made the play-offs.

Charlton bottled it - they could have stayed up with a win and were playing a team with nothing to play for.

WIGAN bottled it - they also could have stayed up with a win and were playing a team with nothing to play for

We got a draw in a game where we had nothing to play for and the opposition were in form and fighting for their lives. We have two much bigger matches coming up in the next few days. It may not have been the best performance but I don't see how on earth you can say we bottled this one.

Agree 100%.  If you analyse your own club failings you in fairness have to analyse every other club for honest comparisons.

Brentford had to win their last 2 games for automatic promotion and lost both. We were never in that position. The season is about 46 games not the few that some wish to highlight time after time. 049:gif

Can you imagine being a Forest fan this morning? A few weeks ago they had an outside shot at autos (neck and neck with us). They were nailed on play offs. Even going into last night as they a 5 goal swing on Swansea. Who needed a bigger miracle than the one we needed, and yet... Forest WDL the last three weeks is horrendous! I don't see Lamouchi keeping his job (and some were raving about him).

For me in the real big games we have fallen short. The games where we could have made second, WBA and yesterday. The drive, energy and yes motivation and game plans failed us.
Parker has a team built to grind out the points without any real flair. We have been there or thereabouts nearly all season but without pulling any trees up.
I thought we would be playoffs before seasn began, but I thought that would be because we attacked like mad with the team we had but would let goals in as well. In the end we have been just very middle of the road.

Does middle of the road get you through the knockout stages of pkayoffs is the question.

Did we bottle it yesterday, actually I think it was Barnsley home that we really did.

Could not agree more - this is spot on. The only thing I would add is that   Charlton away was a game when I thought  we needed  to step up - the game was there for the taking - but we just whimpered to the final whistle. Underwhelming is the word that best describes the season for me. Still we are still in it and could well make it . Fingers crossed.

Seems to standard now to say it was 'bottled' when a team doesn't win a crucial game. Really don't think that was the case yesterday for us. We had a highly motivated opponent. Could we have played better? Yes. Bottling is what Nottingham Forest did yesterday...
