Really hope we won't be starting players in poor form such as Cavaleiro and Reid as people have suggested.
Stand up if you still believe!

I find it truly amazing that some posters think Cav a reasonable starter. He has shown no evidence of being in anyway a useful addition to the front line for almost 10 months. What is it that he brings, poor at closing down, slows every attack down, can't beat a man, shooting is wayward....what is the point ? Kamara every single time and Knoc ahead in the queue, I think we should get rid asap.

Cav has been a passenger for quite a while and has very little impact if any at all when he comes on, he should not be chosen ahead of Kamara and Kebano or Knocky even.

Good to see that you still harbor an unusual level of hate for Cav, and that you found a thread in which to express it.

On topic:

Rodak
Odoi, Hector, Ream, Bryan
Reed, Anguissa
Kamara, Cairney, Reid
Mitro

Subs: Areola, MLM, Robinson, Christie, Onomah, Kebano, Knockaert
do you mind if I ask what you thinking is about dropping kebano who imo is our most inform player for Reid is?

Sure.

On Kebano:
I am not sure that form counts for as much anymore after several weeks between games. I also am of the opinion that Kebano's top form was more of a fluke (in that almost everything ended up in goal for a few games) and that he will go back to performing as a decent sub at best as I don't think he is PL quality in any aspects of his play really (other than possibly his free kicks). I do like the guy, and he's a hard trier, but for most of his time with us he has contributed very little on field (I get a feeling that he's a great teammate though).

On Reid:
I like his running and link up play that opens up a lot of space for other players. Feels his general play is very underrated because of his bad scoring record, and that he has several qualities that works also on PL level.

In short, I believe there is a higher chance of Reid performing well and contributing positively in the PL.

A little harsh, Cav has been rumoured sick and definitely been injured since lockdown. He recovered well and may not be an inform player, but he was ok with real quality in his boots and has years left on his contract at Fulham.

Due to the short pre-season, we need to be careful to only play players against Arsenal that are at peak fitness as they are the least likely to get injured so we can have the full squad available for Leeds and Aston Villa, etc. If we can save Mitro and Cav for later games, then it would be wise. It seems saving Mitro maybe difficult without another inform striker, but saving Cav's body is a no brainer given Kebano is in the form of his life.

By the Beard of Zeus !!
Saving Cavs body for what exactly ? Do you mean research on the effects on a body that put its feet up and has been idle for ten months sleepwalking and loafing around a football pitch comatose, the bloke doesn't even look interested, the only time I have seen him break sweat was in the celebrations after the play off final. When he collected his medal was the quickest I have seen him move for ages.

We currently have Knockaert, Kamara, Cav, Reid, and Kebano that are all excellent squad players, but I suspect everyone in that group has the four games before deadline day, to find if two of them are premier league starters.

Rumoured sick you say, then why has he more often than not been in the squad, sick of what exactly having to run around a football pitch to earn his inflated salary, so you are now resorting to rumour mongering. I don't know whether you may have noticed but he is supposed to be an athlete in a competition, which means if selected or find yourself on the field of play during a match, you are actually suppose to compete, that is why it is called a competition.

FWIW I put Cavaleiro in my starting XI because he scored and created more goals than any of our other wingers last season. Sorry but I'm just a bit old fashioned like that.

Also that's despite him generally playing on the left which is his weaker side.

And he has the most pace after Kamara.

I also don't really think form is relevant when this is a new season.

im surprised at this statto. Was expecting you to be a little more in depth. Cav scored one more than kebano but cav stats are 534 Mpg where as kebanos were 159 mpg that's a huge difference with kamara being second best with 289 mpg

What I'd like to see is 4-3-3:

                      Rodak

Christie      Hector     Ream    Bryan

                       Reed
         Cairney              Onomah

Knockaert                             Kamara
                       Mitrovic

What I think we will see 5-3-2:

                          Rodak

Christie     Odoi   Hector  Ream  Bryan

Not really sure MPG is a useful metric when you're talking about players who've only made 8-9 starts. If Stansfield had come on for a one-minute cameo somewhere and scored a tap-in, his MPG would have been 1, but it wouldn't mean he was better than Mitrovic.

You may also have noticed we play with two wingers, one on each side of the pitch. So playing Cavaleiro doesn't mean dropping both Kamara and Kebano, just one of them. I'd have both Kamara and Cavaleiro starting (assuming we don't sign Benrahma or Bale this afternoon).

Kebano isn't quite good enough IMO (sorry but a few free kicks in the run in isn't equivalent to a respectable full season) and Knockaert is just nowhere, couldn't hit a cow's ar$e with a banjo these days and can't even seem to create goals for other people. How he cocked up that 2v1 when we could have gone 3-0 up in the play-off final, I will never know.
