Quite a few ropey passes from him along the back line in that vid... On the basis of that match alone, I'm not sure he looks like an upgrade on our current CBs.

That is true. But it was several years ago he did it with any kind of regularity. And that was in Sweden and Denmark. Since then he has played DM and RB almost exclusively.

I just had to look up how many games he'd played since that injury and wow, he's missed a lot more that I thought!

That said, if the fee is actually 5m as mentioned here, I would take a punt for sure. I'd even go so far as to take that punt and use the extra towards a CB or forward, rather than buying (or continuing to chase...) Luis.

Rationale being, I don't doubt he is a very good player and may well go on to be a world star, but I don't imagine for a minute he'd want to drop down to Championship should that be the case (whereas I would guess Amartey would), or that he would really have much of a connection to Fulham (he could have made a case already if he genuinely wanted to come if we've made three bids). The main one being though that CB and multi purpose forward are far more pressing than CM (yes I know DM is a little light, but still - this could fill it and allow budget elsewhere). Spend the big bucks where we really need it. One for the future? Sure. But would he stick with us long enough for that to be relevant? I'm not convinced...
