Perhaps he may have been interested if they had tried to get the ball to him. He must be frustrated as hell.

Come off it Blingo - Mitro wasn't even running around - even Cavahlo showed more energy when he came on.

He had NO SERVICE at all Slaphead, at least try and get the ball to him. I can't buy that he's useless at all.

Tell me that its a lack of service and not effort that is resulting in these poor showings from mitro. Look how in 2018 he would constantly come deep and link play, not hover on the shoulder of the last defender and walk around!

Parker asks Mitrovic to play differently than Slav did. He's not a central hub, he's a poacher. His goal total last season masked his decrease in overall effectiveness, even as most of this board noted repeatedly how much worse our attack was overall. Now he's up against better defenders, has also been unfit/out of form, and this is the result.

I know they are different managers but Cav doesn't stand on the last defenders shoulder does he? He drops deep to link the play and press high when not in possession. So you think Parker is asking Mitro who is not a pacey forward to try and run in behind? I just cant buy that. What I am saying by the 2018 video is that if it isn't working for him he clearly has other options in his locker which he isnt implementing and that appears lazy.

Inconvenient reality: Mitro is a Championship striker. I know some of you don't want to hear it, but it's as clear as day.

Sadly this is exactly true. At a lower level scoring came easily to him. Now, upped in class, his mental toughness to up his effort and commitment to rise to the challenge has let him down. He looks like a sulky child who doesn't want to play any more.

Cue to him scoring a hat trick on Wednesday now....Pigs do fly don't they.  079.gif

Is it 'not interested' or more a case of lack of confidence?
For a comparison  Benteke at Palace or Lukaku when he was at Man Utd (& now apparently playing well at Inter) were in even worse periods of goal famines.
Maybe our current system does not suit his style but between him & Scotty should be able to improve the situation. In an ideal world Mitro would have a run of games - but we cannot afford ineffective performances from individual players at the moment.
Carvalho & BDR do not look like scoring enough for us at the moment either so effective recruitment required ASAP unless we can spring a surprise via one of our youngsters

They're also different players, and whatever strengths Mitrovic has don't work with the rest of our players/system right now. Parker wouldn't ask Mitrovic to do the same exact things as Cav because he can't do those things; much like Cav can't finish in front of goal, but Mitro can (or used to be able to).

Mitro has a bit of McCormack in him -- a clear individual talent who needs a specific system(s) built around his strengths, and in the Premier League, we can't afford that because it hurts us in too many other ways. I actually think Mitro would do better on a better Prem team who would have the ball more and help him be threatening.

I agree with Mitro would do better in a different system/team maybe a 4-4-2 team with someone for him to make knockdowns to and lots of crosses. But I still stick to the point that Mitro can be more mobile as evidenced in the YouTube video. Shows he isn't interested.

I  don't think he wasn't trying- he had no support.

By 'no support', do you mean we didn't put the ball on a plate six yards out for him to score?

We're a side that struggling to score against P.L. defences - the oft-repeated claim that Mitrovic had no service suggests to me we can't afford a player who depends on the other outfield players to carve open our opponents so clinically that he can't miss. Even if Mitrovic were capable of doing nothing more than making clever runs in-and-around the penalty box it might help the other players to find him, but he doesn't even do that.

+1, Blingo seems to wear rose tinted glasses when he is watching Mitro, perhaps he is mistaking him for somebody else?

Sadly, it would be no loss, in my opinion, if we cashed on him this week.

Parker challenges him to show what he's about and he offers up nothing. His value must be plummeting, but we won't get any more for him in the summer.

The issue is that we would have to offload him for next to nothing, as other clubs will question why a Prem team are selling their only actual striker, and the answer would be obvious if any of them saw the game today.
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

The more he plays, the worse he looks.

We could get £10M now. By the summer it might only be £5M.

I love mitro but we keep making the excuse he gets no service
But good players make things happen and when things aren't working  they work  harder to get the ball which I feel at the moment mitro is not doing
Although nothing has been said and it may be something else but he looks like a player who thought he was going to move in the closed season and when it didn't happen he has gone into a sulk
I hope I am wrong and he comes good again.
If it is he is not fit or carrying an injury I wish they would let us know

Maybe Partizan would like him to come back. Or a Turkish team, anyone for the classic straight swap for Babel? :005:

Exactly right. In the past, when Mitro wasn't getting the service expected, he ran bck to get the ball himself, showed that commitment, but nothing like that more recently.
Unlike the bigger teams, we don't have the depth in squad to maintain players that do not offer enough quality or commitment to the team itself, and we should look to offload them to increase funds to purchase and stay within the FFP.

I agree something is clearly not right. Would love to know what the problem is.
