Seems to have escaped a mention, I never ever took to him from day one,
Never felt he was qualified enough to be assistant manager at Fulham especially in the Premier League, and I just didn't see any influence that he brought to the club,
Personally don't think he is any loss whatsoever ,
If it does end up being Steve Cooper, then his assistant Mike Marsh is a huge upgrade on Wells.

Totally agree with the OP.

It's just like me appointing my mate if I got the job, was nowhere near qualified enough.

toshes mate

One of Parker's bigger mistakes as a rookie perhaps, but time will tell.

I do think one of Parker's biggest problems was a lack of experience in his backroom team, obviously barring Stuart Gray. The goalkeeping coach was also quite young

Sting of the North

Whilst I agree that there is a high likelihood that we would have benefitted from someone with more experience, I am not sure how we usually see any influence from the people behind the front man. I believe most that happens on the pitch is credited to the manager/head coach even though there are several people working full time every day to create the end product. I have no idea how to assess the work that Wells performed because frankly I have no idea what he did. Maybe we would have been down by Christmas without him? Or maybe we would have survived? Most likely somewhere in between, as he was just one of the cogs in a rather slow turning wheel. The only thing I know for certain is that he was part of an ultimately unsuccessful team, which is never good for your CV.

Shades of Hancock and his little bit of fluff as his assistant?  :022:

Didn't he bring back Stuart Gray.

Jules

Wells is just a youth coach. He was totally out of his depth last season.

The goal keeping coach can't really be criticized when our player of the season was our goalkeeper. 092.gif

I think Areola was great without the coach's help

Well said Spikey - Love Rodek, but Areola was completely different gravy.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

perry geyton

Danny Dyer can do one

Happy to hear Stuart Grey stuck around, I'd love to hear his opinion on Parker

hongkongfulham

came across to me as Parkers yes man but I've never heard him talk about football so i cant really judge. Just off appearances seemed a bit meek for the managerial game

Once more, with a couple of extra bits added!
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

Stueyd

I have no affiliation with Matt Wells although I would add he is a highly qualified coach having passed his Level 5 UEFA Pro Licence this Summer along with Luis Boa Morte who was also in his cohort. Oher people on the same course were the likes of John Terry, Casey Stoney and Quinton Fortune..
