Over a season we will lose a few, their will be the odd off day, it's how we react next at Birmingham that will tell if we really as good as we think we are

ChesterTheTabby

Completely agree, and it is what makes the Championship so bloody enjoyable. Anyone can beat anyone. We lost due to the international break, of that I have no doubt, but blackpool played very well and were good money for their result.
Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

I agree.

Perhaps today illustrates the difference between good Championship players and P.L. quality players. Against a really hard-working Blackpool team, our good Championship players (and bar possibly Tosin and/or Seri, this is what today's line-up consisted of) could take the game to the opposition in the second-half but couldn't muster the extra quality that was needed to break Blackpool down - quality that even a lower-half P.L. team would likely possess.

I'm not that fussed. Blackpool played well and were responsible for why we didn't. Probably should have been a draw, but we conceded a goal very reflective of that performance — sloppy and soft. Tip your cap and move on.

Finnans Right Peg

Exactly this ,it was on the cards with the international break but I don't think Silva helped with the team ream and robbo should have been rested and Maybe Mitro too but hindsight is a wonderful thing

Somerset Fulham

Yep. We were poor and need to take that on the chin, fair play to Blackpool.

I don't see it happening too often, but it should serve as a reminder to supporters and players alike, that this league is never, ever straightforward.

Lots of teams will play us this way, this season.
They have to.
It's not a cake walk. We have to work hard to win this division. But we have the squad to do it

Coyw!
Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

Exactly hopefully be a kick up the .... You can't just turn up you need to earn every victory in this league

Dunstable Fulham

Fully agree with the comments above. We move on, learn and get better. Under Parker we had already lost at Barnsley and at home to Notts Forest and drawn at home with West Brom.

Blawarmy

We shouldn't be losing to Blackpool with our squad, but freak results happen. The break really screwed up momentum.

Fernhurst

Watching the Che v Villa tonight and the slow realisation both those teams would beat us without too much trouble. Losing to a team who have not won a game in the Championship this season suggests we are far from Premiership ready.

Lots of work to do Marco.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

FFC1987

This teams success wont be defined by this result but how we bounce back from it. (or don't)

Agree.

We lost 5 in 2000/01 and so despite tongue-in-cheek threads about loin-girding - a few defeats are inevitable

Blackpool won't be a main rival for promotion this season but it is a wake up call to the Players and Management that you can't take any game lightly!
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

The worry is the blank scoresheet against lowly Blackpool. On Wednesday we play Birmingham who have conceded very few goals and without Wilson and Carvalho there is a chance that we may again come away without a goal, we will then start to recall all those blank scoresheets from last season.

blingo

A blip. Normal service will be resumed in our next match.

Blawarmy

Cav was back to his 50p foot self,  which wasn't good to see. Hopefully, as many have already said, it was just a blip.

The real disappointment is we were not able to change things enough during the game. We looked a bit one dimensional which is something we have not been this season. We had enough good players in the team to make it work. But I guess too many changes and too tired legs caught up with us.

As others have said it is how we manage to respond in the next game. It is a very long old season and while blips will happen. The way they happen is important. Players allowing opposition to run into the box from a long way outside without a challenge simply is not good enough. One dimensional attacks are not good enough. We did have chances but looked off.

We can't afford to make the performance a habit.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope
