How dare he win a game and not give the moaners nothing to moan about, they wont know what to do with themselves tonight now  :019:

RidgeRider

No moaning from me today but he is still on the hot seat but that felt good and good on the boys for playing with passion and for MH for finally letting Bairdinho play a game.

I know LB , but i cant help feeling a little smug for Hughes tonight, we might not be a top 8 team, but feel he dont deserve some of the stick hes had either, fans calling him chelsea scum and all that, what a load of crap that is, i dont hear people calling Gordon Davies that as he walks round the pitch

Banstead White

Thats a fair point, to be fair everything seems all the better after a win and particularly an away one. I wasn't at the game today but listening to the reports from the radio the players all seemed "up for it" and the elation from MH after the game was to be expected he is after all the boss, but there is a worrying thought that maybe this win was contrived simply by the players efforts, sick of losing etc and not implemented by MH......the next few games might tell us a different story. I hope I am so wrong but I imagine this "effort" might soon wear off.
Same situation as a month ago I guess, two wins out of the next four games might just put us back in a relative secure position and its a whole different ball game from there....meanwhile we should all be saying come on Hughesy keep it up or otherwise its gonna be back to gloom..... :clap_hands:

To be fair Banstead white, if wed lost 5-0 and players didnt look interested, Mark hugheswould get the blame for not getting them up for the game, so why not as we won give Hughes some credit for getting them up for it, te players like Hughes and are 100% behind him

Bilet

He should have a lot of credit for really fireing up the boys today. But the consistency of our performances is what decides if he should keep his job or not. A heavy loss against Spurs, followed by a Spam-like performance against West Brom and he is yet again under heavy fire.

But of course he has quieted sceptics after todays win. It was massive for him, the team and us fans.

White Noise

The one thing that experience has taught us is that if we know anything about football it is that we know nothing about football.

We have all been proved wrong more than we have been proved right.

We were nailed on to go down in 2008, Baird was the worst player ever to wear the shirt, Zamora was not a striker etc etc.

Opinions are what make for entertainment but we have to still recognise we are all know nothing feckwits (apart from KCat).

As a side point, Hughes may not have cured our travel sickness but we have conceded the fewest goals away from home of any team. Damn the man for fecking up our wonderful defence! -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/table/default.stm

We have also garnered 8 points away from home this season already and only managed 10 in the whole of last season -

So, I quite agree - Hughes out!

White Noise you are quite right

If we all was that good, wed be managing Fulham and im sure playing for Man Utd , Barcelona and Chelsea, he has more experience and knowledge than any of us, all ive asked for since pople have got on his back is to give him a chance

Only ONCE this season have we ben in the bottom 3 and all for a couple of days

One win wont win people over straight away , and 3 wins all season isnt great, but judge him when he can bring in players who he think will improve the squad

White Noise

Spot on BW! :57:

I really like Hughes and am delighted we got him and have him. I think he will do a grand job but then I backed Sanchez till the last!!

There were a good few people on TIFF after the West Ham game coming out with the 'I said when he joined he was a wrong 'un' but I'll bet I'm not going to get any credit now - Oh how I wish I could pull up my post now' type comments. That is one of the things I like about this board - we don't try and re-fight the same old battles over and over again.

I am sure everything will look better in a week or so and that the Jan window will be a good one for us. Come on you glass half fullers !

There is nothing worse than someone coming out and gloating from the rooftops when they have limited evidence to back it up.

We played well today and deservedly won. Hughes should get a lot of credit for getting the boys riled up and putting in a performance full of heart.

BUT

Losing at home, by two goals, to the worst team in the league is not a good result. Had we turned up in the second half and gotten at least a point, if not a win then we would be in a much better position. I do not expect anything from an on-form Spurs side but a win against West Brom is a must. If we return to bad ways over the next month then we are in serious trouble. If, as I think we will now do, we use the result against Stoke to kickstart our season then the gloaters can gloat as much as they want.

I wonder how everyone would be feeling if we had beaten West Ham 2-0, but lost 3-1 to Stoke? Not really relevent I suppose...but curious.

You are right though - imagine how much better it would be had we beaten West Ham (after AJ scored his sitter, then we dug in for 2-0) then we beat Stoke? We'd probably be above Liverpool again!

Whilst it is all rather academic, it would have been more beneficial for us to win against West Ham as they are our direct rivals.

However, the table has become condensed once more, so that is also advantageous. More teams to be dragged into the mix methinks.

On the otherhand, we have at least broken our away duck for the season (next away win due April 2012!).

I was only gloating because i thought the stick hes taken was a little unjust, yes things arnt all of a sudden rosy, and wevestill got a battle on our hands,  but for fans to want him out cause"hes chelsea scum"  or he aint hat friendly towards fans is a bit harsh, im bgetting a bit tired of saying this, but judge him in a few months time, people say he could of kept things how Hodgson had things, but hes his own man and i dont blame him for trying to make us a more attacking force, ok we might not have the players(at the moment) but at least he was willing to put his own stamp on it, what i couldnt understand was they way fans booed him for trying to make a POSITIVE substitution on Boxing day, i dont mind being proved wrong(wont be the first) but theres people who slag him off then dont want to give him credit for today, cant have it both ways

One swallow doth not a summer make... Let's see what happens over the next couple of games - West Brom in particular.
"We won't look back on this season with regret, but with pride. Because we won what many teams fail to win in a lifetime – an unprecedented degree of respect and support that saw British football fans unite and cheer on Fulham with heart." Mohammed Al Fayed, May 2010
