Why did we sing this song? Why did it stop dead (after apparently nearly 20 years in circulation)?

Off topic I know but Brian Moore was always my favourite commentator, a Gillingham fan but you would never have guessed from that commentary. He always said craven cottage was his favourite ground.

In those far away days pretty much every clubs fans used to sing it, typically as now any song at football
was / is copied by others.
Growing old is mandatory
Growing up is optional

Motspur Park

Can't remember this specifically but I do remember well the drunken chorus of 'I can't live, if living is without you' sung in the Stevenage Road in the 70's.

Motspur Park

And the old chestnut 'Hey you bald head over there.....'

Regarded as 'baldist' nowadays! How many people sung that and are now 'follicley' challenged?

Riversider

Variation of a theme from way back when that doesn't get sung anymore,
"We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate Chelsea to AND BRENTFORD " We hate Queens Park Rangers but Fulham we love you.

This was still being sang into the 90s

Fair enough. I thought it was more exclusive to Liverpool and some others (like "take me home" is sang by us and 1 or 2 others).
I can't get my head around all clubs singing it for around 20 years

I seem to remember my dad saying that the "Fulham" song was "Keep right on to the end of the road". That would be in the Forties.

It may very well have been and that would suit Fulham, however i have heard Birmingham City fans also singing it occasionally over the years.
