Now the fixtures are with us, what are our targets for our first ten or twenty games in order to avoid the yo-yo. I would say 18 points after 10 games

18 points after 10 games??? That's Europa League placement form over 38 games, you're having a laugh surely considering we play 5 of last seasons top 7 in our first 10 games?

Andy S

Yes but there are teams that will still be out of our reach. I would like another. 12 points by the time the World Cup arrives and we have a break making 30 points. They are all gettable

Early season there are always upsets until teams find their level

To be fair we probably won't have a lot of points early. Our start is brutal. First 16 is rough. We should look to survive the season prior to the WC and then make a strong run over the last 22 games.

18 points from the first 19 games would be a result!

Not seeing 18 points in those games. We've got some tough ones in there. Anything from the Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal games would be a bonus. The Brentford, Brighton and Forest games are the games we need to win. If we win those games, and beat the rest of the teams in the bottom third of the division, we'll stay up.
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

We Are Premier League

7 points by the first break, after game 8, would be a good start.

Pool, arsenal, spurs and chelski in those 8 games, and wolves away.

Leaves massive games against Brentford, Brighton and Forest

7 That's pure relegation victim mentality,
Gotta think bigger then that no matter the opposition

Deeping_white

12 from the first 10; target 4 against the 5 teams who came top 7 last season and 8 from the other 5 giving a respectable start to build on the next 10 games in which we should target 15 points if possible. 25-27 points  from 20 games gives us a good mid season foundation

hovewhite

By world cup break 18pionts and well on way to staying up.

Radiowhite

We will win games we don't expect to win and lose some of the games everyone has down as must win. One game at a time is the best approach

Woolly Mammoth

3 points target for the first game, then when that has been played 3 points target for the second game and so on.
There is no other sensible way of looking at it, one game at a time.

Put simply - I think you have to target 20 points in the first half of the season. Anything over an above that is bonus - but hopefully something we can achieve.

We need a better start than our last two outings in the Premier League, otherwise heads may drop and there will be the familiar call for a change of manager (which hardly ever turns out well for us, as we know)...

HamsterWheel

Only target should be to stay out of the relegation places.

Andy S

Unfortunately that is not achievable without wins. And not the odds win. In the first part of the season there is no previous form. So there is an opportunity to get points against the big boys that won't be their later on

ffcthereligion

We need 20 points by the World cup

Avoiding the yo-yo is easy, don't win any games in the next two seasons, which is as simple as spending all our money this season on good loan players but the teamwork not cohesive enough to keep us up and then we lose all the new players and then do the championship with this mob.

This current squad is aging too fast and hasn't got enough depth to even yo-yo at this moment. A lot of players in this squad will be well past it in 2024. We need to add a first XI centre back, attacking midfielder and left winger too even be able to consider yo-yoing.

What are you on about? Yes, 8 of the current squad will be over 30 in 2024 (Gazzaniga/Kongolo/Cavaleiro/Bryan/Cairney/Kebano/Ream/Reid) but I don't think any of them will even be first team players this season. Most of them weren't even first team players last season!
