I've always been a huge fan of him, since his first season for us, when I thought he looked  a class above those around him.

It doesn't come as a huge shock that he's proving doubters wrong, even in the twilight of his career (though he said on saturday he'll carry on as long as he possibly can).

Gale apart, I've not seen a CB with as much composure as him at FFC. So pleased he's done well, so pleased he's got a new contract.

I am on quadruple helpings of humble pie but have not chocked on one single piece . He has shut me right up and I am only to pleased to admit this.  :54:

I've often been a critic of Ream too and I'm happy to be proved wrong, however you seldom see a player who ages in such a fine wine like manner.

Tastiest pie I've ever helped myself to. Always been thankful for his contribution but was, as we all were, critical of his chances of ever being a prem player. How wrong he's proved us all this season. So happy for him

There were some real nuggets. I am sure i saw someone post that our season would be over if he was even on the bench come the first game.

Great to see a lot of doubters now seeing the man's ability, consisty being appreciated.

Without the players in front of him he would still be average.

I think Ream has done a great job and he's certainly outperformed what I was expecting. However, I do believe that if Tosin leaves in the summer then we should buy a starting centre back, I would be cautious only bringing in a squad player to replace Tosin- the fact is Ream will only last for so long- he'll be 36 next year. Having said that, if he carry's his form into next season, and I hope he does, I would imagine he plays.

Anyway, Ream is a top professional and very happy with how he's performing. I never thought I would enjoy shouting another players name like I did 'Steeeeeed'

I'm struggling to make sense of this comment.

Only thing I'd bite about with this is, Ream performing at these levels in the Prem is unheard of in his career overall, so it really is a bit of a surprise. Even if we think he's capable, he simply hasn't achieved these levels and rarely do players find elevated levels of performance past 32 let alone 35! So whilst I appreciate a bit of hindsight, these levels he's performing at are a surprise (even to himself as hes freely admitted in interviews!).

But yes, yum yum humble pie  :003:

And without Ream performing like he is, those players around him would be average. Ream is and has been a massive part of how strong we look both on and off the ball within a defensive unit, but one that also likes to press hard and carry the ball forward quicker. I'm beyond giving him any sort of criticism so far this season and at the world cup. He's been sheer class.

Not meant to wind people up or get them to bite, I've genuinely been blown away by all the stick the bloke has got over the last few years, almost totally unwarranted. I had annonymously added some of the comments, but they were removed by mods (fair enough) but it was pretty scathing even just before this season started.

I'd disagree- Ream's always been a classy player on the ball, composed, precise passing. First time we went up he got slated- but the system/manager wasn't mentioned. Last time we went up, he was part of an awful start to the season and seemed to take the blame for it- the system/manager weren't mentioned. Mitro on the other hand, his poor return according to almost all fans was down to the system and manager. Which i'd agree with, but Ream certainly wasn't afforded the slack that others were.

Without the right players behind him so is Mitro.

Regards the original comment, that is exactly the same for virtually every player in the world. Unless you are surrounded by decent team mates, you are going to look average at best. As you say Mitro didn't score many goals and was labelled a Championship player and any defender will be vulnerable and exposed.

One Martin Thomas

We bought Hector as Ream looked awful in that Championship year !! I thought he was finished and that was based on performances seen !! Now at 35, he's reborn !! I'm shocked 😮 !!

Humble pie not needed !! Ream was pretty awful and now he's not 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes, where constructive criticism was simply abuse, is where I'd agree and draw the line. There's one thing to write him off as Prem standard using historical context for saying so, and another for name calling and disrespectful comments. He deserves better than that even before this seasons meteoric performances. I'm not sure how much I agree with all the blame being on the coaches/managers. Simply because once Tosin and Andersen came in, we looked much more solid compared to our appalling defensive performances of, was it 6 games last time round? That's not solely Ream's fault, but he had some particularly poor games in those fixtures but then again, who didn't in those games.

Ream is having a great season and we should all be grateful for that and I am pleased that those served with the humble pie are eating it with gratitude.

While I have always liked Tim and fully backed him for this season I am reminded of half a century ago when we signed an ageing Bobby Moore and I actually had doubts about that. I think the present situation with us and Tm is comparable with the days of Moore and am looking forward to him taking us to Wembley this season.

I used to think Ream was the weakest link in our defence but he has certainly improved a lot under Silva. Ream was excellent last season and he's possibly even better this season in the Premier League.

I'm not prepared to eat humble pie though as I still think he was very poor in previous seasons and deserved all the criticism he got. He often made embarrasing mistakes inside the box when we were under pressure. At times he looked completely out of his depth, even in the Championship. He also used to struggle with aerial duels and a lack of pace against teams that played route one football with long balls behind our defence. His positioning has improved a lot under Silva and he now seems to have found a way to avoid his weaknesses being exposed.

Maybe it was poor coaching but in my opinion Ream was consistently poor under 3-4 Fulham managers (there were some signs of improvement under Jokanovic's second season but our defence was rarely under much pressure that season).

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be happier for Ream's success as a loyal servant to the club but I also think he deserved all the criticism he got during his first years at FFC. He has been given considerably more time than most players do these days but he has clearly deserved it. I just hope it will last. I must admit I'm not 100% convinced yet as the level of improvement we've seen from Ream lately just isn't normal for a player of his age. Or maybe he just needed a good manager to unleash his full potential?
