A Good Result At Hull

We were by far the better team today but failed to get that clinching goal until right on the final whistle, they came near to the equaliser at times.
Also the blistering performance we needed from Wlison or James to show they could play a decisive role in frightening Chelsea didn't materialise although again James showed he has the pace to do a job.

A copybook performance from Cairney , oh what a joy to watch him.

We were the better team, but I think we can count ourselves lucky that Hull didn't take at least one of their chances. Could have very easily been an unwelcome replay if we weren't careful and a shame we didn't finish it off sooner

I think with James, he obviously needs space to use his pace. Hull gave him oppertunity to use it whereas most Premier League clubs won't allow him that

Marco took that far more seriously than I expected. We (effectively) closed with our first-choice back six on the pitch. Was surprised to see Andreas and Reed start and play so many minutes.

Was this Marco's ploy for transfer help? If Chalobah (or Onomah, even) can't be used to start in a match like this, what's the point of them being "depth options"? Our midfield has looked very leggy and two key runners played 155 more minutes today.

Cairney looked a class above.

Regarding Chalobah/Onomah, this is why I fully expect us to look to get another midfielder in before the window closes.

Agree that the good old cup atmosphere wasn't there today.
Perhaps in the next round if we draw another London team.

Decent result and some fitness and rests for the squad?

Which PL team away will it be?

I :drums:

Has to be, along with a replacement at RB for Mbabu, who seems 100% off this window.

We have five more matches now in three weeks starting on Thursday. Our midfield three are going to be exhausted without legitimate rotational help other than Cairney as a strategic sub.

And Dan James now seems to be a "chase the high ball in the last minute specialist". Left it to Mitro last time, but was smart enough to make sure there was no goalie this time and finished it off himself.

A good result from a tricky tie and Wilson n James not firing, but scoring James a plus ,as mentioned already he won't get that space to run in the PL.
Good to see Marco paying respect to the FA cup compition.

We played ok - basically cruised along after we scored. Hull had very little to offer - seemed they rested a few players as well, so not surprising.

Cairney probably MOM, as he basically kept us ticking over the for the whole match. Kurzawa looked up for it - always looking to get forward and James did better.  Everyone else did ok - hopefully we can get Vinicius more involved against Chelsea. Nice little cameo from Solomon, looks like he will get more minutes as a sub before he starts a match.

How did Kurzawa and Soloman play today. 092.gif

This from the BBC match report(!):

'Vinicius Junior had the chance to double Fulham's lead just past the hour mark but dragged his shot well wide and from that point on, it was the home side on the front foot.'

He must still be tired from his exertions at the World Cup!  :005:

The way I saw it Kurzawa played OK, still doesn't seem 100% to me though. Wasn't exactly busting a gut but not a poor showing.

Solomon didn't really see much of the ball at all. Hull retained possesion of the ball for the majority of the closing stages when he was on

Good win in a tie that was a potential banana skin, in the draw for round 4 happy Saturday evening! Unlike the one Boscombe fans will have 😉

Mullers OG

TC far and away the best player on the pitch today.

SP

Relieved we didn't need a replay this time.

demeant0r

Most importantly, did we avoid any injuries?
