Sent off today... Southampton v Wolves

rusty shackleford

What the hell was that red card about? What a joke

The Rock

No, this is Fulham related. He was supposed to be Pereria no!?

All you can do is set everyone up for greatness. They have to prove it and sometimes they need help. I think under Silva he would have had a better go, but these are after thoughts aren't they?

SerbianLad

One of the most ridiculous decisions this season and there have been many incredibly stupid (and incorrect) decisions this season! Arsenal players and Arteta get away with worse in every single match.

Dodgin

Brentford got away with it against Arsenal. VAR mess up.

Tbf to them, the Mbuemo goal should have been given probably. Wasn't much of a foul I think.

Sgt Fulham

What an arrogant decision from the referee. Needs to be investigated (to confirm nothing malicious was said) and the referee suspended if the truth is what Neves said.

Craven Mad

Referee was all over the shop in that game. Pleased for Wolves that they came out on top in the end, but very unfair on Mario

southwest6

did seem at a first glance that Lemina muttered something behind his mouth at the ref. IF he did say something inappropriate, then fair enough in my book a I feel footballers get away with far too much, especially in relation to their behaviour towards refs. However, if nothing rude was said to the ref then the decision was absolutely ludicrous

Fulham Tup North

VAR has had another awful weekend...
And those in charge have nothing to say... but if a manager questions them, then it the manager who gets a ban.... its becoming a complete farce...

Games need referees. On a Sunday league game without a ref they can become bloody dangerous. Only the captain should be allowed to talk to the ref. The referees in turn should be more accountable. Football needs to act. As far as VAR is concerned may be all games should be reviewed after the game and points could be added or removed

Apparently he was booked for ' aggressively running at the referee ' ?  and the ref had booked 6 players within the first 35 minutes or something? seems like he just had an absolute madness

I don't like to see players sent off for petty reasons and that did seem a bit petty . But remember this .
He'd already been booked .
Dissent is a bookable offence.
I got to say when I was refereeing some player are constantly in your ear whinging and complaining on every decision . It can wear you down . Dissent , be it mild or offensive is , by the book a yellow card . So whilst it's not what we like to see it's almost certainly justified.

First he certainly was not aggressive and he was not that close to the ref, why didn't he book the 2 that got to him first.

May be one of them made a comment and he thought it came from him. This wouldn't happen if players left it to the captain

Kingjay81

Finally a referee with some balls.

Keep sending them off and guess what, they'll stop gobbing off and running after refs.

Hope Mitro was watching!

Arsenal would finish every game woth about 2 players. Refs never book "big" team players for that kind of behaviour. Mitro was already booked plenty times for that. So was Marco Silva (the only manager that was booked 4 times this season despite many manager being much worse on the touchline). I agree with the broader point, but Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, etc. players will never get booked for that, and neither should ours then. Also Lemina was pretty mild in prostest.

Think it was Gillett, correct? He was one of the only referees that I thought did a good job at the Championship level. Can't say I've been quite as impressed this season. I believe he gave Marco the card as the 4th official at Chelsea as well.

Seems he is not going to deal with dissent. Don't think I'd blame him, but he better stay consistent with it. It's easy to pick on Southampton and Fulham, but I hope he is as righteous with his cards if it is Mason Mount or Bruno Fernandez doing what Lemina did on a yellow.

But what did Lemina actually do, he was running towards the ref, unless he said something on his way there, what is he guilty of?
