That is the worst VAR decision we have had against us yet. VAR must be corrupt. Not only was Akanji interfering with play he attempted to play the ball.

I feel like giving up on football

No doubt we will get a an apology on Monday

What is the point of playing City. Just give them the league now as they will get all the decisions. Good shout for a red card against them as well for the pull back on Wilson

Fulham Tup North

The corruption is so blatant and there is absolutely NOTHING you can do about it...
Why don't the VAR officials publish their bank statements... astonishing how bent they are...

cwindsor

VAR, much like pretty well everything else these days, is not fit for purpose.

ron

As has been said we have the red card and the duff penalty decision to look forward to now.

Nick Bateman

Fulham do not get apologies from Howard Webb.

In the weekend of Mohamed Al Fayed's death, it's a disgrace!!

Should have refused to come out in second half and just conceded the points

That's the penalty 🙄

Rightwhite

Disgusting VAR decision of the highest order. Even Mike Dean said blatant offside due to interference of the keepers view. Shocking.

Agree 100%

Palhinha Colada

Other than ignoring the Wilson DOGSO red, allowing the flagrantly offside City goal and also awarding a penalty for a posthumous flop after Alvarez tripped over the ball, this has been a well officiated and administered match.

ron

Ah well, the plastifans are gloating and happy.

SP

They'll come up with some weird interpretation of the laws to justify the decision for their second goal.

Not sure what your problem is? They come out and apologise afterwards, surely that makes everything ok again.......

And from the Mail today:

The standard of refereeing in that VAR hut is absolutely shocking. 🤣 pic.twitter.com/BwHM5XWjGf
    — Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) September 2, 2023

This resulted in fans taking to social media to discuss their surprise with the decision to allow the goal to stand.

One user asked: 'How was that given? Guy clearly offside in front of the keeper takes a swing at the ball and puts the keeper off.'

This was supported by a Man City fan, who agreed that Akanji was clearly offside as he said: 'If you don't think Akanji is affecting play, watch Leno's feet and you'll see him readjust after the ball goes past Akanji.

'Clear offside. Expect an apology from the PGMOL Monday.'

Another user simply said: 'That was offside, daylight robbery.'

How has that been given? 😂 guy clearly offside in front of the keeper takes a swing at the ball and puts the keeper off 😂 https://t.co/7wFGzK9CsT

We've robbed a goal off Fulham there 😅

I'd be furious if I were them. https://t.co/lS5Z3Fj92a

Clearest offside in the history of offside. Should be disallowed. https://t.co/7iFPkwDj0G
    — Ricky Zellefrow (@RickyRondo) September 2, 2023

User Ricky Zellefrow labelled the 'clearest offside in the history' as he admitted he 'should be disallowed.'

Another Manchester City fan admitted that he felt sorry for their opponents as he admitted: 'We've robbed a goal off Fulham there, I'd be furious if I were them.'

Fulham fan Hazza L called on the FA and Premier League to make up for their mistake as he wrote:  'That is a DISGRACE! WHAT IS THE POINT OF VAR!' as he tagged the governing bodies.

'Fine margins in a game and you allow that goal to be given. You can even see Leno hesitate because the guy that's offside can alter the direction of the ball!'

Guardiola's side made it a comfortable victory in the end, but the goal on the brink of half time was the turning point for his City side.

The real question is when is enough, enough? Goals change games. This one clearly did and it was offside as all hell. Even a commentator said, if this is the other end, it's not given... when will that awful, corrupt refereeing body be investigated and stopped?
Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

Nothing should irk more in life than fragmented protest.

There must be multiple items on VAR from previous seasons and many for this season already. Would it not be a good idea to have one season long record of VAR cock-ups for games involving FFC and another for all other games?

The VAR system was always corrupt because you cannot control games via committees - one person has to have responsibility and that person should be transparently in charge not a relay of decisions made elsewhere.  VAR is supposed to make that happen but it doesn't - it is control by popular consent not individual responsibility come what may.

Forget Oliver's and Harrington's rewriting of the offside law yesterday and consider what allowed that incident to happen and why it has got to this place. VAR hasn't matured - it has mutated into a deadly contest of how far the game can be ****** up before people in numbers start to spend their money elsewhere.  Money is central to all that is football and the game is but a peripheral and metaphorical "football" being destroyed by greedy people who care nothing for proper sport.  Why do you think the Saudi's believe they can do better than the PL even if better actually means worse in context?

At least three of the goals were dubious yesterday on my reckoning and that is after spending much time appearing to consider stuff when there was nobody around with the intelligence required to do the reckoning with appropriate care.

Football has been reduced to a plagiarism of cheating in plain sight complete with knobs on.
