Play like this against Sheff and we will lose, shocking performance

First post match question for Marco. Why do you allow our central defenders to dick around at the back?

Not sure where you're going with this - we've been a possession based team for years now that builds up from the back like every half decent PL team. Obviously it's going to go wrong every so often but would you really rather we became a hoofball team now we've not got a target man?

In fairness to him we had one of the best defences in the league before tonight with three clean sheets and it worked all season last season and the season before.

Tonight was on the players performing poorly.

Ream was wreckless and gave away the ball with a sloppy pass - the second goal in that respect is solely on ream having a lapse of judgement.

In principle you are correct but the pair of them have been doing it since the Everton game although not always getting punished for it by the opposition. It is maddening and makes any discussion about forward weaknesses irrelevant.

No it doesn't. The forward weakness is still relevant if the defence part is still true. They can both be true. Just means we're in more s**t if they are at the same time.

Somethings not clicking this season. Players don't seem as up for it for some reason. I think the summer had a huge part to play in it.

Need to somehow get the feel good factor back.

Beamer

Basically we were outfought, outplayed and outclassed on the night. How long can Ream brain farts be allowed to go on (in fairness he did well to get a foot in and deflect the shot and it hit the guys foot and go in) but these failing to see the player in front of you and try to pass through him moments are happening too often.
Sheffield will tell us where we actually stand and anything but a decisive win should have alarm bells ringing because they really aren't very good.

Woolly Mammoth

This walking football in our third of the pitch wasting valuable time passing back and sideways non stop and our slow build ups and so predictable is killing us.

Reams unforced error is Sunday morning Kings Head fifth eleven stuff, why was Diop ball watching instead of picking up his marker, and why did nobody tell him, not for the first time no communication.

The trouble is when too many players play poorly it drags others down also.
I feel the catalyst in these boring punchless displays is down to the adopted system of play, it is slow predictable and easy for opponents to play against as it gives them time to get behind the ball.

Apart from the lack of entertainment the slow tempo of build ups along with the predictable play is an own goal and it just assists opponents to press us high to force us to keep passing back and sideways and make mistakes.

We are shooting ourselves in the foot, we have to move the ball quicker, otherwise we will not score enough goals, and we will keep conceding unnecessary goals like tonight.
Many players work rate on and off the ball was mediocre.

When we did occasionally up our tempo we looked a lot more positive.
However our defending from our centre backs is timid and milky.
There is no creativity in midfield and we have no punch up front.
Whoever is up front gets no service or support.
Our system of play is not working and tonight especially made our players look nowhere near Premier League level.
We just looked disjointed compared to Chelsea.

In the absence of a direct solution, perhaps the team needs freshening up.
Leno, Robinson were our best players, and Iwobi also sharpened  us up. When Vinny came on i would have kept Jiminez on also, seeing as we were 0 2 down at the time.
That would have given Chelsea something to think about and get the ball in the box a lot quicker.

At the end of the day we made it too easy for Chelsea.
Glorious defeat ? NO.
A boring spectacle ? YES especially in the first half.
Second half we competed more and showed intent, but because of this boring system it makes us so predictable with the slow slow tempo.
Certainly not worth the admission fee.
The problem Fulham have is that there is no overnight solution.
I would like to think it was a one off and just a bad day, but it isn't it's an ongoing problem, and  unless surgery is made to the system of play to suit the players we have to choose from we may continue to slide down the Division.
Sheffield Utd Saturday is crucial, but will we score more than we concede, will we score  ?

Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

How can you possibly describe Chelsea as a weak side. Take a look at their starting line up and compare it to ours. No way is that a weak Chelsea side.

How can you possibly not describe that side as weak in comparison to a normal, top 4, title winning, European winning side? Blimey, they were 14th going into this game averaging 0.8 points per game over 38 games. What world are you living in pal?
Clearly not the world you live in. You described them as weak. They're not and the result proved it. We can only dream about the quality of player they were able to field today. The past has nothing to do with the present so I have no idea what relevance your point brings to the discussion.

That side aren't scary. This Chelsea side had 11+ injuries, a striker whose barely kicked a ball in two seasons, a very young and inexperienced centre midfield, a winger whose created literally nothing since his move, a goalkeeper that was Brighton second string and defenders who also have barely played or are just getting a chance because of the said injuries.

They sat 14th and we finished above them last season. This isn't a Chelsea side who should be beating us comprehensively at home and is 'weak' comparatively to period sides and the league as a whole. They're no where near a top 6 side.

So come join the real world pal. You can gush over a few midfielders if you like but Palinha still walks into that side.

I totally get the frustration with the game today. Sometimes, we all have those matches that make you wonder why you're even watching. It's tough when your key players are struggling, and the team's not finding the net. I remember feeling that way watching my hometown team a while back. But hey, it's not all bad. We're in it for the love of the game, right? Although personally, I like it when I still get a good prize. So now I try to play more often in bingo games that pay real money. As for Wilson and Jimenez, we've seen them shine before, and they can bounce back. Just a rough patch, I'm sure.
