So lets kick it off with this from the interview with Marco in the standard

The Fulham manager added:
"Sometimes if you change too much, it's not a good sign. For next season, we have three or four target positions that we want to clearly, clearly improve."

So what positions do you think he's referring to?

He's already said likely 2 CB's (with Tosin departing and Ream getting on)

so core positions to "clearly improve"

1. CB
2. CM (whoever plays alongside Palhinha?)
3. LW
4. RW?

I'd say CF but he's suggested mentioned Stansfield will definitely join the attack so that would make Muniz, Raul and Stansfield so he may feel that's enough I don't know - he has always had strong faith in Muniz' future after all.

For me top priority is a quality CB option alongside Bassey and a LW option to take over from Willian. Someone who can play both wings would be helpful of course and Marco does love interchangeable position players. Someone like Nusa for me would be ideal but suspect he'll be coveted by larger clubs.

Let's face it, the bulk of the business will be done on deadline day or close to it as usual.

Thats the spirit!! haha

It often manifests that way for us given we are the club we are, not a top European club etc. But hopefully we can get the usual few in a littler earlier than that to get excited about along the way.
Here's hoping we can push on this year. Hope we can hang on to the likes of Robinson, Palhinha and Muniz mostly at this stage and build from there.

I will probably hibernate for several weeks and then awake - like Adam Adamant, to be amazed at what has transpired

This is
Without doubt
The most sensible option.

But many have tried and many have failed to resist the temptation of the silly season thread

God speed

It is another thing I just don't worry about, we will sign who we sign, we have no influence or input into any of it.

Just for the record Silva does not sign players, he recommends players but that's it.

Manchester United have joined Fulham and Nottingham Forest in following Stade Brestois 29's Bradley Locko.

The left-back has registered three assists from 35 games for the Ligue 1 side and has been 'a revelation' this season. His form has seen a few Premier League sides take notice.

That's at least what Jeunes Footeux are reporting, and say Locko has been on Fulham and Nottingham Forest's sights. Manchester United are now added to the list.

Agree personally, it's not worth drowning in negativity all summer over it, it doesn't change anything doing so.

Personally I think given it's been made pretty clear multiple times in multiple published interviews from credible sources and interviews directly with those involved:that we operate a multi tick system where players are identified and should generally be ticked off by Manager, Tonys stat system and our scouts before our relevant department then negotiates and then is signed off at the final end by the khans. With occasional acceptions made for the likes of Muniz where we don't have any extensive scouting/data on a player but the club are willing to trust The conviction of the manager.

Seems sensible to me and it's worked generally well for a while now

Identify the positions that need improving, compile lists together of top of targets, the ones that pass all tick boxes we pursue whilst also exploring other options down the list if negotiations aren't working out or we want to try our hand are utilising budget smartly, saving in one area to allow for expenditure in anothe. It's a balancing game and not the simple one some think, especially with ever evolving ffp rules that has already seen Everton and Nottingham flirt with relegation as a result.

I like to read the rumours and check out the players on YouTube and get excited, but panic mode is not for me personally. Worst case we go back to the championship where I've spent many years at fulham enjoying some of the most exciting football memories I've ever had. Well all live 🤣

That said... I would LOVE for us to push on and try and sneak a European place next year or win a cup and with a good summer it's not out the question. Fingers crossed

Generally speaking

Certianly would assume LB competition is essential with Ballo Toure sadly likely to move on.

Think Marco will go mainly through spine of the team with centre back/s a high quality holding midfielder and a centre forward. The other signings will be squad additions to compete with what we already have.

Somerset Fulham

I wonder how many pages it will be before somebody blames TK for....anything?

You don't think we need a major upgrade in the wings?I feel like that's one of the most vital areas we could improve.

Willian a year older and maybe moving on anyway.

I like Traore and Iwobi but I think BDR (who's a brilliant squad option I'd be happy enough to retain) and Wilson can both be improved upon if we're going to step up a level.

I would imagine Stansfield is earmarked to replace BDR. Wilson I would keep as he offers a goal threat some pace and comfortable with ball at his feet. Can be a bit one dimensional though. Traore you just never know with him and injuries? You have to wonder can he play 90mins? Iwobi is Iwobi? Good for half a dozen games then ineffective for the next. Willian we need to keep for another season if possible. Will still be our best player even at his age. I think BDR & Traore both likely to move on. So we will need one extra wide possibly two depending on Willian? Not sure we go big money on winger/s.

BDR has a contract offer on the table.

Has there been some doubt though from his perspective about future appearances? after early discussions. Might he have already signed?

What makes you think Traore is going anywhere? He's still got a year on his contract and has been really good since coming back from injury, gets his first start today and scores emphaticly. I don't see him going anywhere and I wouldn't want him to, he's such a useful weapon and can play both sides. Plus he was free.

I still think with Willian a question mark as to how long he can go on like this, I'd like to see a statement wing signing. Willian is in the balance anyway as you say, and we need to prepare either way for life after him I'd love anm exciting young prospect to develop behind Traore and Iwobi

Personally think stansfield is better centrally up top as I gather was reiterated by brum fans this year.

Bdr is such a useful squad player but I just think if we want to challenge for Europe we need a level above.
