Muniz clearly being backed as our main striker option - upgraded and announced as number 9. A statement of confidence evidently. Good for him, hope he continues to thrive.

Just saw this. I'm guessing that means we're not going to be pursuing another striker.

Another painful window this one. Don't think it's the right way of doing business leaving it late. As for ITK's shame about West Sussex White going - I think he's the only person I've seen on here with any legitimate claims of knowing anything.

I think we should have had a Joao replacement in by now in time for pre-season. To need to replace so many key players and raise the level across the squad is a tall order.

We're a bit of a laughing stock in the way we go about our business.

Lighthouse

We manage to do ok. Despite having the unfair FFP rules to contend with. We have managed to buy a couple of players and sell them on for huge profits even if we wanted them to stay. While we always leave it late. I remember being promoted and having lots of players coming in and how delighted we were. But relegation was instant. Yes we and the manager would like it all to be done. However until we know our squad all this speculation and the usual attacks are a bit premature.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

I don't think that last statement is true or a reflection of us at all to be honest. Most football groups I'm in often quote us as a model for what others should be doing based on signings made. I really do get the frustration with leaving business late, but ultimately, in recent years anyway, the transfers we've made have been both impactful, and sublime both on and off the field for the most part. Based on where we were, to where we are now is night and day different and that's credit to everyone at the club.

Have some faith. Apes Strong. Together.  ::scarf::  ::wine::

This is incorrect.

It will appear in the accounts we publish/submit to the PL this season - maybe thats the reason some people are confused about this - but they will be the accounts for last season.

Can one of the FFP gurus confirm? As I swear this was hot topic and it ended up being it was falling outside of last window and the expectation was that it was falling into this window cycle?

The FFP experts are all away on holiday together...I've just seen their motorbike and sidecar in a lay-by near Camber Sands.

You're placing a lot of faith in an 8-game streak

If our no9 has been announced this must be there 1st day back!

I believe forwards can hit purple patches and score a lot of goals and that's something to keep in mind for sure. One thing I've noticed is that a players ability during a purple patch doesn't really improve that much, they find themselves in the right place at the right time and score goals.

However, if you take away Muniz's goals he was still one of our best players. He got more and more confident and his game went to a new level. That's not a purple patch- in my opinion anyway.

I don't see it as a massive gamble starting him, but I would still look for a new forward, someone who can play across the entire front line who can step in if Muniz struggles. I wouldn't look to blow a huge chunk of the budget on a new centre forward.

On CF muniz deserves the no 9 shirt with Raul and Stanfield as back up is ok as think him and Raul should get 20 goals between them,Stanfield if he contributes 7 goals then up front we will be ok as we will always create chances.

I have a few reservations in regards to our front line? Well the two not including Stansfield. Jiminez if he can stay fit? should be still okay to do a job but certainly not a given. Muniz I am not convinced he will continue the upward curve next season. Might sound strange after last season but just not sure he will have a similar impact like he did over those couple of months. Hope I am wrong but in todays premier league you need three strikers minimum. Shame we don't play two up front then Stansfield could fill one of those positions but as of now you would have to think more wide than central.

Have a look around at how many teams have three strikers. Think all the teams have 2 senior strikers and then youth/versatility players.

I think the point I'm making is I can't see another striker being signed and I'm hoping that muniz and Raul score 20 between them otherwise we could be fighting in the bottom 5.

I remember Raphael Honigstein who is a good journalist saying that we have a reputation as not being particularly professional and I think that's true. Maybe a 'laughing stock' is over the top, as there have been some upsides. I'd rather go about things as we do rather than say Forest. But I don't get the impression we're a well run club at all. We all know about our DoF and the image that brings upon us.

I still think we will bring in good players, and fan mood at the end of the window is more telling than now - remember the Euphoria after signings in 17/18 and we remember how that turned out

We just need to make sure that there are at least 1-2 signings in other attacking positions. Those players do need to have a good potential goal contribution - like Smith-Rowe, Wilfried Zaha or Bruun Larsen (who scored 6 goals for a poor Burnley team last season). We have linked with all of these three with at some point since the end of the season...

Willian was a gamble and that worked out pretty well🤔
