Let's also give some credit to Tony Khan for what he's done behind the scenes, some incredible recent  signings, Bassey Anderson Leno Traore Iwobi Lukic ESR - the list goes on

He's doing a remarkable job and deserves praise 💯

Not bad for a Yank huh ?!?!?!

Jimsbeerbelly

I've always see you as a bit of a WUM, perry geyton.

In all my time on this forum, you have a habit of posting stuff in an aim to wind people up, or cause trouble when there is a period of calm around the club.

Marco is doing great, yes, he's probably the club's biggest asset right now, but Tony has handed a lot of the recruitment responsibility to him, which was a requirement when he signed his new contract with us.

Tony, who is "Not bad for a Yank huh?!?!?!" merely signs players off now, if the price is right.

If anything, Tony sits his arse out in the US now, driving his AEW franchise, with little or no involvement.

Well if that's the case I'm just curious who it was then that came up with the idea of signing Marco and getting him to put pen to paper in the first place ?

That was his dad Piri.

Jim, how can you say Piri is a Wum :slap:  :slap:  :slap:

That's family brother it's all tied in

I'd guess that there's an another underlying reason that you won't give em credit

Sounds like your problem not mine

I have no underlying reason not to give Tony credit, I've given him loads in the past, when it's justified.

However, the problem seems to lay with you perry geyton, as you always seem to push the issue with Tony, and expect every fan to give him constant credit.

You use it as bait to rile other members, and we don't appreciate it.

Grow up.

Surely everybody knows now that the good players are signed by the manager and the crap ones are down to TK.

I assume it is just a dislike for the poster that cause some to call him a wum. IMHO, he tends to stir the pot a little but I don't see this particular post as such. Tony Khan has received a great deal of flack, mostly in the beginning (somewhat deserved at the time) but he has had a hand in building a very talented team. Call it OJT, but he has learned. I'd wager I have a better beer belly than Jim does but in this case it is him that is being a bit petulant.
Its not that I could and others couldn't.
Its that I did and others didn't.

Oh yeah I'm sure you've been full of praise for Tony in the past, I can just imagine

Re read your original post ;

"If anything, Tony sits his arse out in the US now, driving his AEW franchise, with little or no involvement"

If that not undermining I don't know what is

Maybe time you looked in the mirror I was simply just complimenting him on the job he's done
If that offends you then that's your problem

I think it was probably because I said "not bad for a yank" that rubbed salt in your wounds, but I'd argue that Americans are often criticized regarding football from certain factions of Brits

Tim Ream was at the tail end of it for many many years,

The Khans also in my opinion  have weathered the storm
And I'm extremely happy they own and represent our football club

Yep, us Yank's know jack about Soccer, I mean Futbol...  ::tongue::

It's quite simple
It's just me praising our American owners that rubbed him the wrong way

Please don't use "we" in that context. You certainly don't speak for me!

Frankly, if the op's opinion riles you so much I suggest you need to get out more.

Sounds to me like you could have an argument in an empty room

Sadly, due to Tony Khan's history with how the club has been managed in the past any post that invokes his name is going to get stick.

I could be wrong, and I probably am, but I thought I read or heard somewhere that Shahid Khan is a bit more hands-off nowadays.  He is more interested in retirement and building a new yacht.  He still keeps up with everything, but he has handed more of the day-to-day off to TK and Mark Lamping the president of the Jaguars.

If it's true that TK has given Marco more responsibility for the football side of things at the club, then Tk should get credit for stepping back.  No matter what though I hope all will be happy with how Fulham has started this season and keep fingers crossed for Marco to stay put for a long time.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

I don't agree that "Marco is more responsibility for the football side of things at the club" than previous managers, because it is pretty clear that nothing has changed as both Tony Khan and the Head Coach (Marco Silva) have to agree to sign a player and either can veto a signing like before, plus if they cannot agree on any players my understanding is the TK can still bring in a player. All that has changed is MS and TK seem to agree on a few players each window.

Tony Khan is still wanting players with good statistics and the "players joining lately have better statistics (adjusting for the league those statistics are obtained in) and costing similar prices than those in the past" like Seri vs ESR and Anguissa vs Berge. I would note that Slavisa that seemed to like "players with poor statistics at a fair price that are actually good players", which is type of player that TK would veto. Slavisa despite being a good head coach doesn't seem to be able to work with anyone.

What has changed is Tony Khan and Marco Silva seem to be able to find "players that have good statistics at a fair price that are actually good players" that Marco Silva can use. I am sure that Marco Silva doesn't get every player he wants and I am sure gets frustrated dealing with Tony Khan, but there are enough players that Tony Khan likes that Marco can find a few that he would want in his team. I believe Shahid Khan choose Marco Silva because he could work with TK.

I think the post perhaps rubs people the wrong way because it somehow suggests TK doesn't ever get praise? If you look at the summer silly season towards the end, lots of posters congratulated the teams recruitment. Maybe that wasn't your point Perry, but I think that's why some have reacted. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. Bit on the nose with the last sentence perhaps, but otherwise, praising a person that's seemingly an important cog in the wheel of the business, considering where we are now, seems like a sensible thing to do. Could be a little early to do too much and the wheels come off, (hope not and I dont think it will) but who knows.

I always find some of these discussions a tad strange though. TK has historically got a lot wrong especially in the early days. No point bringing up examples, we all know them and our decline was self evident, but also, not only down to TK, but just because he's come up roses now, doesn't offset the mistakes so if posts are more trying to say 'its good now, so the noise earlier was unwarranted and only because he's american...' then I'm not with you. He deserves the criticism for the mistakes, as much as he deserves the praise for the successes.
