'James Beattie has joined Blackpool on loan until the end of the season.

One of my favourite players when he played for Saints and Stoke, Beattie.'

I liked him too, there was a stage when I thought we'd get him. Well past it now.

Fair enough. Interested in who the two targets could be!

Thanks for the info, keeping today interesting!

Beware of Tony Gilroy's thoughts!

Some time at the start of Jan/maybe late Dec, TG opined that he felt we might end up bringing Carlton Cole in. As far as I'm aware, he's still at West 'how many strikers do you need?' Ham. Hopefully don't watch this space!

For some silly reason, I rate Cole. No idea why but I think we could get his career back on track.

I reckon Bothroyd was one of them. Cole could be the other.

No new players until deadline, I'm afraid.

So there's still a chance of at least one more player coming to us before 11?

Yes, but I expect no new signings!

Bothroyd was a big blow for Hughes.

Andy Reid and James Beattie to Blackpool, Adam on the verge of signing for Liverpool!

Is that something you know because I find it hard to believe. Bothroyd has never succeeded in the Prem and is by no means young. I could imagine him as an OK squad addition but no more.

A blow in his bid to bring in a new striker. I want to say that he might have been his sole option today.

Carroll fee: 35m

Liverpool FC - A joke!

More than Edin Dzeko. 8th most expensive transfer OF ALL TIME

They are paying £35m for a classic English centre forward. Wow. They could get Kevin Davies for £3m.

A guy who may grow up but at present has a serious attitude problem that could easily derail his career.

I liked the Guardian's comment that with 34 million pounds they could have bought Blackburn  :005: :005:

Wouldn't be surprised if Redknapp were to launch a big bid for either Hughes or Hangleland.  Those two are such good defenders.  Hopefully, we'll make it through the day without some silly money being thrown at one or both of them.

Mr Fulham, can I ask how you know that this was a big blow to MH?

Because, apparently, he has no other striker lined up.
