Which position?

Sorry if Jay has already supplied this (the video highlight reel), what I know next to nothing about this player. Where do we think he sits in the hierarchy of Muniz/jimenez? is he someone we're investing in for the immediate impact, or likely a season to settle in jobby etc?

All good no harm in sharing again ha!

Here's the vid again

Personally think like all players with Marco - them starting will be done on merit.

The guy turned 23 this feb, a project and not the finished article proven at top level, but he's already looking very talented and capable with some good teams interested, so will be eased in would think and if he takes his chances, he'll get minutes. Much like when Wilson wasn't starting, but played his way in by being undroppable for the stretch before his injury.

Seems to have massive potential by all reports but Muniz and Raul have the spot between them until anyone new stamps their claim strongly enough to usurp them I'd say. If this guy came in and has an insane pre season and the others aren't hitting those heights - for example, I'd hazard a guess he knocks one of them down to the bench early once the season starts, but till then he may reasonably expect to play in the cups first to work his way in.

Remember last year we were interested in Semih Kilicsoy the 19yr old striker and everyone was pretty excited by that.

What's happened to him? By all accounts was a wonder kid and still at besiktas.

Transfermarkt has him at 13 mil. Would he be a better shout than Romelu Cardoso?

They wanted a tonne more than that from memory. Sure it was something stupid like £30m. 3 goals and 4 assists last year in 1300 mins of football. Romulo 13 goals and 9 assists in 2500. Not sure Kilicsoy would fit a loan 9 system either as quite small I believe.

Are we signing anyone?
This is really the same old story, the only thing missing is a rumor saying Silva is leaving.

Last year we signed our first player of the window - ESR - on August 2nd
Sess on July 26th.

Ah yes well spotted hadn't popped up when searched presumably as he was a free agent.
Still point remains - the average first signing date over the last few years is around the 27th July.

We'll get there when we get there.

Away from Fulham for a moment, keep an eye on Sunderland, doing lots of business, all young players with big reputations  and possible big resale values, just need an old hand like Jordan Henderson to bond them together,
Might catch a few teams by surprise this season including West Ham in the first game.

Southampton did similar. I'm not suggesting the outcome will be the same though.

Burnley also did similar last time around. Would give them a 50/50 hit rate. Berge, Odobert and O'Shea were sold at a profit. Trafford has done pretty well for himself and is rumoured to be off for a big fee. Amdouni was off at loan in Portugal and has had his stock fall slightly. Tresor has cratered in value. Beyer and Ramsey have also cratered in value and have been out injured for a year each.

Think Kudus is very decent. Surprised Westham entertained Spurs there fans must be spitting feathers.

Somerset Fulham

I would be absolutely staggered if we managed to land McAtee. In fact, I am rather surprised that City are willing to let him go.

Tbr football are an absolute bottom dregs source tbh.

Id be happy with it but don't think we need CAM as much as we need CM

Perhaps the oil money has run out and they need to sell...

They sold Palmer two seasons ago and Delap last season. City shed a lot of good youth players.

He looks a pretty talented player but completely agree that we don't need an AM unless we just want to completely give up on keeping Josh King. We also spent a record fee on a 10 last year. It is a brilliant box to box 8 we need.

McAtee may end up a world beater but I'm also not sure he isn't being a bit over hyped at this point. Same age as Fabio Carvalho. McAtee championship record 3 years ago was 9 goals and 3 assists. Fabio 4 years ago 10 goals and 8 assists. Think there is a danger of thinking just because he comes from City he's going to be amazing. Cole Palmer kicked on massively but doesn't mean they all will. Sheffield United fans seemed to think he was very good but not spectacular from what I remember reading a while back. Question is where could King be at 22 if we can keep him?

As I say McAtee could turn out to be brilliant but no guarantees. We need to get our record signing firing and desperately need to try keep and develop our own talent in King in my opinion and you never know, he might turn out even better.

He can play on the right and in the number 10 role. If we can get him I absolutely would. I don't think that means less game time for King as I expect Andreas will be off this summer. We absolutely need a number 10 summer as we really struggled in that position last season.

Me too. I mean i was surprised when they let Palmer go, especially to a rival that will be challenging just like City. But yes if we do pull that one off, which I highly doubt then I may just eat my proverbial hat, as hes a real talent.

Agree to disagree on that one mate. If we signed McAtee I think there is zero chance King signs an extension. I doubt he will unless AP goes and he's guaranteed more game time as back up to ESR. Knock on effect of other young talents not seeing a path to the first team which is already a huge issue that we are all complaining about.

We need pace in new wingers and McAtee won't give that. Already have Wilson and Iwobi in that profile who can play 10. We also can't be prioritising buying a 10 after spending circa £30m on ESR last year...we just have to get him to come good.

If we were to sell AP and it was clear King just wasn't ever going to resign at that point £25m would be worth it for McAtee for me but at present just not a position we need to focus on as we have multiple options there.

All prob complete BS anyway. Rutzler I believe said we were going for wingers, a CM, a striker and back up GK. Few other reliable sources as well have said the same. No mention of a 10. Same with a load of rumours at DM...Marco outright said we don't need one yet the rumours just keep on coming about us signing one.  ::smile::

Yeah, until AFCON comes around

Id give up signing anyone else if it meant  getting McAtee. I highly doubt it tho. A LOT of clubs seems to be hovering around him

Quote from: JimmyConway on July 09, 2025, 09:08:35 AMWith regards to Jackson whether you rate him or not it would still be a coup for a team like Fulham to have him here on a season loan. Don't see it personally. Why would he come to Fulham and potentially be 3rd choice striker here? Unless guarantees were given? Has he ever played wide? Could see the possibility there perhaps. Bit like Sarr plays for Palace!
Certainly one of the quickest forwards about.

Jackson would be first choice for sure, but he's not a target man, so I just don't see it. If he does leave, I can imagine him playing for someone like Bournemouth.
