It's going to be a very interesting summer. We certainly need to get a few players in if we want to push further up the table and challenge for European football.

That's probably the plan judging by what Silva said.

"The plan is there and clear. The board knows already. The plan is there on the table. It is an ambitious one, let's see what we can do. The club wants to move forward."

Have to say that's exactly what i wanted to hear. We're only one step away from a truly golden era of European cup runs and a genuine shout in the domestic cups. Let's hope the club can take it.* Hard to see why Silva would stay if he didn't think we will.

*With an eye on the long term (ie youth) too please

Excellent, I'm excited by that.

I think the options on Adama/Raul/Wilson give us some room to really target our transfer window. We still need to tie down Tete & Cairney, but that would then give us a solid base to add some young and exciting talent (in place of Reed/Vinicius/Willian/Diop/Pereira/Benda).

Personally I would keep Diop but otherwise I totally agree with that summary.

I think Diop has been very unfortunate in his treatment from Silva this season and I think he should have played much more over Andersen. However as someone that will be 29 next season and has two years left on his deal, he is also a rare chance to generate some money (along with Pereira).

Could say the same about Andersen

Great that Marco has made the statement of intent by the club as the window is open for 10 days from the 1st of June before opening again after the world club competition hope Tete, and king sign up for the ride.

This summer is our last chance to sell him for a decent amount, summer 2026 he will be too old to raise a significant sum,
If he doesn't leave this summer I doubt he ever will.

Milo

I would offload Vinicius, Reed, and Andreas.

Give Cairney another year contract at a reduced, but still slightly generous, salary for his service.

Robinson is a tough one. If we are to kick on we need to retain our top players, but equally he can command a decent fee at his current age and form.

If Willian wishes to stay for a reasonable salary then he can. He still offers plenty as part of a squad rotation system.

Then I would kick on with buying an attacking midfielder/playmaker. Then I would source another winger/striker. I suspect next year could be the year Muniz hits his prime Zamora era and becomes unstoppable.

In other news, if Palhinha can return and the fee was reasonable then I would do it.

We have 6 senior wingers in the squad including Willian. Reiss Nelson will likely go back to arsenal, but even then we'd have 5 players for 2 positions. He was a decent pickup when we had 3 wingers out injured, but at some point you have to make cuts.

With regards to Willian I see both sides here. The age is something you would not normally entertain but why I would look to keep him on is based on A. Still would be the most technically gifted footballer we currently have B. He looks after himself professionally you only have to look at first team squad as it stands C. Could still influence a game even if he was coming off the bench.

If Marco wants him & he's prepared to sign on the dotted line ASAP then yes. If he wants to spend the summer looking at other opportunities & only signing towards the end of the window, as he tends to do, then no.

SerbianLad

RE:Willian, If we have room for one more player in the squad list and if he's okay with being 6th choice, then I'd keep him.

I'd get one more winger in the summer, preferably a left winger that can play as a striker too. Keep Iwobi, Traore, Wilson and Sess and loan out Godo and then I'm happy with our wing options.

Angus Telford

The thing is it's ok saying these players can still do a job off the bench or as backup, but we need to be bringing the average age down massively, and we're unlikely to sign 20 year olds who are already good enough for the starting XI, so by retaining all these 29-36 year olds you take up the development spots for them in the squad. Traore, Wilson and maybe Jiminez you can justify, maybe Cairney partly due to his captain/legend status, but Willian, factoring his likely £100k pw, is just too much IMO.

The only thing is that this year with so many teams in Europe will we be attractive enough for players to come to when they could go to Palace or whoever takes the 8th spot if that is still an option.
