Summer Silly Season Transfer Thread 2025

Another transfer window where Fulham will sign reinforcements in the last week of August. Nothing is happening, and there's still talk of selling Wilson. It doesn't make sense to me.

This squad needs 5-6 players, not more players to lose.

The same goes for Andreas Pereira. Some fans want him to be sold, but the club takes weeks or months to bring in someone to replace him.

I'm sure Silva is frustrated. Another window in which the club doesn't sign anyone in time for preseason and the start of the Premier League.

KJS

If we're thinking of selling Harry Wilson why play him in the 1st preseason match??

Quote from: Tabby on July 21, 2025, 08:52:47 AMThere was a post from Fabrizio Romano early in the window after the extension got triggered that Harry Wilson would either sign a new long term contract or leave this window IIRC. Could see the argument for cashing in now as I doubt he is going to increase in value.

Don't think Harry Wilson can be more than a squad player if we actually want to challenge for European spots.
Apart from a couple of defenders the rest are all squad type players and to challenge for European football we will need two thirds of this squad upgrading.
Yeah, so selling if there is a decent bid is reasonable? Especially if Harry Wilson is angling for a big raise.

Why are we giving credit and airtime to a nobody fan who is just sharing an opinion?

Drewry66

Who the hell will put the ball in the Brentford net if he goes?!?!?!

Personally I think it's a shocking take. Wants us to cave into Arsenal and take a player on their terms who has just had major hamstring surgery, a tonne of injuries and is basically Kongolo mark two if we are not careful. I want him back as if he stays fit he could be brilliant but he needs to be able to prove the surgery has worked for a whole season which means the deal has to be on our terms. Arsenal are that desperate to get rid in all likelihood it will be if we hold out. Just a stupid rant from this kid if you ask me.

Mullers OG

I hope there are serious efforts being made to get Wilson to sign a new contract. His current one ends next year. If he's determined not to renew then it's probably sensible to cash in while the club can.

Wilson is IMO our only top class right winger. We already need a goal scoring back up. If Wilson goes we need two, rather quickly. Sess isn't really at his best on the right and Godo may not be ready.

Quote from: jayffc on July 21, 2025, 08:36:36 AMHe became a starter after being in incredible form last year and after his injury also stepped up again. I had my concerns about Wilson season before but he deserves his place here in my opinion and proved he can be a big player for us.

Only issue is if he won't sign another contract then sure perhaps the club make a decision but I doubt  a)he'd massively want a move to turkey at this stage of his career b)the club/Marco will want to sell him.

3rd rays source also so suspect it a nothing burger

I'd be a bit gutted if he went. He's just one of those players that makes something happen. His goals/assists are pretty impressive over the past few years, despite him being in and out of the team.
What I like is that his movement is unlike any of the other players- looking to get in behind, moving diagonally, we've got no one else that does it.
Big fan of Wilson and a wand of a left foot. Problem with Harry and this implies not only to him but in premier league he is only likely to have a few games at a time where he makes an impact as opposed to say Championship where he was consistent most of the season. I would start him every time over say Traore as he is technically superior and will always be more of a goal threat but it goes back to the consistency over a season in this league where you would question?

I assume that the reason that Viera isn't in the squad is that he was playing in the Club World Cup and got extra time off. The rest is just the same stuff we see here.

Two thirds?? You saw how close we were last season? Arguably if Leno had a better season and Muniz didn't get injured, we'd have made it.
There's no way in this world that two thirds of the squad need upgrading and we'll never be able to- Silva clearly likes a bit of stability too- last time we changed the whole team it didn't go too well.

Fulham Fan News has just said he's heard this one is true and we are signing him. See if the info given is correct.

DM

The News about the French GK is correct. Likely to be Fulham's first signing of the window. Could mean Borto goes out on loan.

"This kid" here!

Where did I say I wanted us to cave to Arsenal? Where did I say we need to do the deal on their terms? You can't put words in my mouth and then get angry at the words!

My argument is that if it's a deal we WANT to do (and it's been reported by good sources eg Sami Mokbel of the BBC that we do), then I am shocked it's ongoing in mid July, and now likely to drag on with him going on Arsenal's pre season tour. Silva said we started preparing for this window in January if you cast your mind back a few months, conversations with targets should have started then, not now.

Fair play mate. Think I got you mixed up with that Joe Gunning to be fair for the kid reference who has had a few video rants recently so big apologies! Didn't think he was on here so just crossed wires on my part.  ::smile::

Think there were various arguments in the comments underneath where the whole thing about the terms came up. We clearly don't agree on all the arguments underneath. That is fine and don't want to get into the same arguments again that have been had on here a million times about speed of transfer and how unhappy Silva is etc so just to say honestly very sorry for any offence caused in my post above.

I'm getting real Andy Lonergan vibes about this move - or would Kiraly be a better one(?). I guess we're not serious about offering genuine competition to Leno, and it would be a fight with Benda for the subs bench.
